Three guys were drinking one night and they decided to get a hotel room. They went into the Inn. A room costs 30 bucks a piece. They each put in 10 dollars and rented the room. While they\'re in the room the butler knocks on the door and says they were overcharged, it should\'ve only costed $25. He has five dollars, in singles. He gives each man back 1 dollar, so he has two left. If each man payed $9, then 9 x 3=27. And the butler has 2 singles left, that only totals $29. Where did the other dollar go?

that must be the oldest riddle, its a math trick
-
dunno but if you dont times it its right
30-25= 5dollars he gives back
each 3 dollars
25+1+1+1= 28
2 left over
i do relise when you times it, it doesnt work out......but i dunno

here\'s another old one:
think of a number between 1-9
multiply that number times 9
add the two numbers in the result together
correlate that number to a letter in the alphabet (1-a, 2-b, etc..)
think of a country that begins with that letter
think of an animal that begins with the LAST letter in the country
now...
How many kangaroos do you think live in Denmark?
Yeah I know it doesn\'t always work, but it is still worth a try at the pub. ;)

It obviously went to Bill Gates.
My proof? Lets look at the facts. Three guys got drunk, went to a hotel room, and overcharged. They got paid back, but one dollar is still missing. Obviously, the hotel utilizes a computer system, and obviously, that system uses Windows. They must\'ve had some little thing on the computer to eat the last dollar, and forward it to Bill Gates.

it was the butler\'s tip of course :)

This riddle is sort of a mathmatical version of an optical illusion. The men payed $30, correct? $5 got knocked off the price, correct? The men got $3 back and the other $2 goes to line the butler\'s pocket. $25 (for the room) + $3 (returned) + $2 (butler\'s pocket) = $30.
The riddle fools you by adding when it should have subtracted. When each of the men paid their $9 (9 x 3 = 27) , the butler\'s $2 tip should have been subtracted from $27 to equal the $25 cost of the room, instead of added to the total. Make sense?

Yea or you could say they ended up paying $27 and if they gave those last three singles back, they would have paid the $30 again...
The two bucks is the difference between the $25 cost of the room and the $27 they actually paid.

Why would three drunk guys want to get a room together? And, since when do cheap hotels have butlers?
