Anyone knows what really makes the NVidia cards so much more expensive
I\'m not a huge follower of PC components like some so really don\'t know why one is worth almost 2x\'s as much as the other since the benchmark tests at Toms Hardware don\'t show much different

I would read all Tom has to say but some of it makes my head spin, cananyone here take the time to translate it and nutshell it into laymans terms so I can beeducated for a future purchase
I like NVidia but not if I can get something of equal or close to equal performance at 1/2 the price

Well specwise the Radeon8500 is more powerful, the biggest reason why ATi is cheaper is because they have to be, nVidia owns the market and for them to remain competitive they must appeal to people\'s wallets.
But know this, when going with nVidia never expect good 2d quality, unless you buy expensive quality brands like Leadtek and Elsa for example.
And Tom isn\'t the greatest scource around really, check out http://www.anandtech.com or http://www.hardocp.com .
But don\'t try to read those guys console reviews as they are highly biased when it comes to consoles.

get a geforce
you get what you pay for

I\'ll have to vote for ATI on this one. I have nothing good to say about their All-in-Wonder products but this Radeon is the best looking card I\'ve ever run.
When the performance on 2 products you\'re comparing is close look for details that you like. Personally I prefer ATI\'s builtin DVD decoder and their lower price.
Geforce is a good-looking card, but not enough to justify paying what they ask for it. I would go to http://www.newegg.com and buy a Radeon 8500 OEM.

I won\'t be buying ofr a while
I\'ve got so many things to worry about finacially this year with a possible lay-off and if I don\'t get laid off I will probably be on Strike this Sept cause our IAM Unions contract is up this year at Boeing
but enoug about that BS
can anyone actually get inot the nitty gritty about the differences between the 2 cards

I\'ve never used the GeForce3 Ti500, so i can\'t help ya. I just had to post that playing Black in White with Max settings and 1600x2000 resolution without ANY hiccups is amazing. I was uesd to playing on medium settings and getting A CRAPLOAD of slowdown in 800x600 resolution w/ my Geforce2.:D *hugs his Radeon 8500*
