any of you seen it yet? I was lookin\' around, and NO WHERE in Queens have them!! I was like WTF...how far I have to go to see a movie! oh well, in the meantime...you guys can give me a review or something on it.
-
I saw it a few weeks ago, since it opened in LA in December to qualify for the Academy awards.
Black Hawk Down is an oddity. It doesn\'t fit any category you might try to put it into, because there really has never been anything like it before. If you\'ve seen some marginal or bad reviews, I think most of them are due to people being unable to categorize it, or having some kind of false expectation. It\'s not a great film or a classic of any sort. The best you can say is that it\'s great for what it is... but what is it? I know this is confusing.
It\'s a challenging film, which I think is good. It bears a strong resemblence to a documentary in the wealth of detail and realism, but it definitely contains a narrative style that makes it unlike a documentary. I like films like this that don\'t fit into Hollywood\'s mold. It makes perfect sense in a way. The illogic of our modern wars are represented on the screen by an uncommon, nonstandard, almost illogical war picture.
It\'s worth seeing, don\'t miss it.

We were either going to go see this or go to the Improv. Kind of polar opposites don\'t you think? I think we are going to Improv.
I can wait for video. Probably better that way anyway.

Im a little hesistant seeing any war movie they fit Dave Matthew\'s Band music to in the previews.
-
Music in Trailers and previews and such quite often have nothing to do with the movie. This may not be the case here, but they make trailers way before the score is ever even written many times.
-
Yup, Vid is right. I still remember the original Matrix trailer being fit to some enya song and lo and behold, it was never in the film.
-
Hello? Point it out when I am wrong. You will grow tired of pointing out when I am right.:D
No wait, we need the post count in OT.
Feel free to always tell me when I am right.
-
Remember the "WOOHOO" song in the Starship troopers trailer? Was never in the movie either.
-
There\'s actually some good music IN the movie. During the helicopter launch, they play Stevie Ray Vaughan\'s version of Jimi Hendrix\' "Voodoo Chile." It was pretty cool.
-
I saw a trailer for it when I saw TFOTR. It looks good, yes.
-
The book is very interesting as well. I\'m looking forward to the movie.
-
Josh Hartnett is such a hottie.
-
I enjoy my war movies like butter on toast. :facelick: So...er..I\'ll perhaps be seeing this movie tonight..
-
[homer] Mmmmm.... voodoo chile.... *drool* [/homer]

any movie that "flip dog" is in, is ok with me
:)

I\'ve yet to hav heard anything bad about this movie. Only thing is people say that it\'s not really a movie, it\'s more an experience. It just drops you into hell.
-
well i finally saw this movie and it left me speechless it is one of the best movies ive ever seen people are right its almost not a movie its a half hour of character development then 2 straight hours of constant gunfireand stuff blowing barely 10 seconds go by in this movie without someone getting shot imagine the opening scene in saving private ryan being 2 hours long thats this movie
movie or not i still loved it except for ewan mcgregors bad american accentand a really fat tom sizemore who is in pretty much in every single war movie made in the past 5 years but his character is pretty cool but you would have to see the movie to know what i mean
it really hard to belive this really happend though what less than a hundred delta foce and rangers had to go up against i guesstimated that you see at least 300 people die on screen its pretty amazing this movie though is exactly what americans need right now and it make you proud to be one after the movies over
-
Hmm... have you read the book Jar O\' Pickles? Because to me it seemed like they fought a meaningless war with lots of casulties on both sides. Of course the Americans were superior, but a lot of them still died. It was very chaotic and no-one really seemed to know what they did, or how to get out of the mess. To me it was very tragic.
-
yeah, they didnt even get the man they went in for
proud to be an ameican?
makes me glad im not human, actually. all that senseless killing
-
I have to see this movie....
If only I had money. I\'ll just beg de parents.:)

The REAL Black Hawk Down story premiers tonight on CNN. I\'m interested in seeing this, it will show how well the movie auctually portrayed the real story.
-
if you want to see what is it to be in war like that, go see the "true story of Black Hawk down" on history Ch.

I guess i\'m one of the few who thought it wasn\'t all it was cracked up to be.
My vote still goes to Saving Private Ryan as best war movie.
I mean, Black Hawk Down was a better than average film but IMO didn\'t live up to its own hype.
someone said early it was a lot like rushing Omaha beach from SPR (first scene).
Black Hawk Down is quite violent and has its bloody parts but so far i\'m yet to see the level of violence that was in that first scene from saving private ryan displayed in a movie since. SPR was a lot more graphic IMO.
anyways, long story short I HIGHLY recommend it but as I said it just didn\'t live up to the hype for me.
