Constantin Films recently released new photos from their upcoming film \'Resident Evil,\' based on Capcom\'s popular horror game series. Scheduled for release in American theaters on March 15th, the film will be a prequel of sorts to the game series. Specifically, the movie will feature an original story and new characters. As previously reported, the film will star Milla Jovovich as \'Alice,\' Michelle Rodriguez as \'Rain,\' Eric Mabius as \'Matt,\' and James Purefoy as \'Spence.\' Originally scripted by horror maven George Romeo (Day of the Dead), the film was directed by Paul Anderson (Mortal Kombat) and will be distributed by Sony.

is there any possibility that sony are distributing the film for personal reasons.. we all know how much
sony would like the franchise back on thier black box..

that sucks, make it a 18, with loads of gore, but saying that, its good that it isnt just reliing on gore to sell, as in there wont be any/much

Any of u seen the Residen Evil movie that was released in 1998 or something like that.... the story was about some sort of virus on a oil rig. Realy a bad movie .( And had nothing to do with the games.

yea the quality seems lacking to me too
oh well i never cared about this film anyway - the zombies look like ass though and the cg monster seems like well too cg i guess

From what I have heard, it will not be PG-13 rating now. Instead, it will be R rated. I guess someone changed their mind about the lowered rating and decided to go for it. Now, I still have reservations about this movie (it is being directed by Paul Anderson, makers of crap like Soldiers and Event Horizon [though Mortal Kombat is decent]). However, from the reviews of people who have seen the movie, it appears to be a good movie. I\'ll wait and see what happens.

Well, Event Horizon wasn\'t terrible I guess, just coulda been better.
BTW, any more indication that it isn\'t a PG-13 movie...

Now, yes, you could push the PG-13 rating fairly far (The Mummy for example) but having a hand with severed fingers? I doubt they could get a PG-13 rating if they pushed it a little further then this (which I believe they did. Not to mention, http://www.resident-evil-forum.com/english/ Milla does get nude).
Oh, and in that same site where the review is, there is a link to the trailer. Looks good (though the voiceover and stuff make it sound a little cheesy, but at the same time, cool). Oh, Umbrella, monsters like Lickers, dogs zombies, and stuff are in the movie. So, while that artificial intelligence things is blah, at least we have a clear connection to the games (something a few games to movies don\'t seem to do) that will at least make fans of the games happy.

i watched the dutch trailer on that page. zombies don\'t look too good and what\'s with mila running onto a wall and throwing that kick on the cerebus matrix style anyways.

They have the trailer available for download. I\'ve already watched it, and the movie looks like complete ****! I can\'t believe they have the nerve to even mention the name "Resident Evil" at the end!! This looks absolutely horrible!!
