Well I\'m a happy man. Hopefully Volition will have stronger coding skills to get by the weaknesses in there 1st.

I didn\'t play the first one, but the sequil has to be better than the first. I heard the first was pretty bad.
-
THE 1st onew was not bad at all.
To be honest I want more RPG\'s like the SUmmoner which was alot like Vagrant Story
There were technical problems in the framerate department. The overhead camera angle in the city of Lanele which also had bad draw in.
but the rest of the areas storyline and the gameplay was quite excellent IMO
controlling multiple characters in the chain attack system was alot more fun then any menu driven RPG I\'ve ever tinkered with.
so IMO Summoner 2 doesn\'t have to improve much over the 1st one, but since this one is being developed from the ground up for the PS2 instead of the like the 1st one which was being co-developed for the PS2 and PC and was rushed to make the PS2 launch. I\'m sure it will be very improved technically.
Volition won\'t be overtaking any of the powerhouse dev\'s on the graphics but there idea of how an RPG should play is 10x\'s more interesting then most Japanese satyled RPG\'s IMO
Squares Vagrant Story is an acception but Volition borrowed thechain attack system from the it which is why I liked it as much as I did.
Volition now has a new "real time" combat system they are touting

Whoohooo! cant wait for Summoner 2! mwahaha

thanks D man both me and Miss money penny are very thankful, the first game was one and still is one of our favorites.
:D
// me now very happy !
happy happy Joy Joy !

i had the first, thought it was good, but not great, i took it back soon after the first big city, the main probs with the first was, bad draw distance, sometimes a bit vague what you are doing and where you gotta go ( more in the sub quests) i found fighting hard, as you had to do timing, but the screen was so far out , it was so hard to do
-
Once I got to the first big city I never played the game again. The city layout was much to confusing, and every other person I talked to gave me a sub quest. The story seemed pretty strong, but the graphics and battle system needed work. I hope this turn out much better.
-
The city of Lanele was only a portion of the game, and the only protion that exploited the weak graphics engine on the Summoner with the over head camera.
Once I opened up the entire map of Lanele it wasn\'t so bad.
The rest of the game had full camera control and zoom, which helped deal away with any of the confusion cause by the fixed overhead camera
I still loved the battle system and multiple characters you could control in realtime instead of Turn based.
-
Welp I\'m back on the Summoner forums and posted a question in a thread about the overhead fixed camera and draw in problems of the 1st game
http://vbb.volition-inc.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/004520.html
heres\' the response
Just one response for ddaryl: Draw-in has been completely eliminated. No more locked overhead camera views either. We know how despised those things were; they\'re gone, gone gone.
this is the biggest problem in the 1st one.

i love the way that you can spend Hours performing all the sub quests in Lanele.
plus the selection of Weapons and armour is Second to none !
this game IMO just fell short of a Classic due to the Redraw and graphics in some places, but the GAMEPLAY is SUPERB.
THE WAY a RPG should be.
BIG
PLAYABLE
and DEEP enough to Drown in ;)
i keep a writen log book to keep track of all the things going on in this wonderful game.
Cant wait to play the Sequal !
-
I agree 007
the game fell short simply because of technical shortcomings
-
ddaryl, i think your banning abilities are falling short because of your technical shortcomings.
LOG THIS IP YOU PRICK- Give me 48hours and i will have an admin pass, then im banning you ;-)
-
dude, you vouldnt hack the playskool website if yer like depended on it
-
lol, your right about the playskool website m8, i got banned and couldn\'t get back in.......bit of a different story here though matey ;-)

Clever. This guy seems to know what he is doing :)

you have zero hacking skills. you have found a common loophole in VBB architecture, nothing more. the control panel "banning technique" is outdated. we can only ban by email and IP. noone has a static IP, so it would involve a "blanketing" effect, that isnt any good either. if we could ban by remote host, you would blow away in the wind. so please dont even attempt to act like something yer not.
one thing prevents you from a permanent ban. you seem to have the ability to acquire unlimited email address\' from yer ISP. it takes minimal effort to copy and paste each one of these into the control panel everytime you register under a new name. so eventually, youll get bored before i will. so play on, child.

True, turning an \'r\' and \'n\' into an \'m\' is pretty good. But until he learns to turns an \'e\' into a \'3\' he will never be a l33t haX0r. ;)

This is my last post....no more pratting about.
Before you ban me i just wanna say this.
2 years ago when i had a crappy dreamcast to surf the net i got banned because of a simple joke about Know-it-all-wanna-be.
This person got me banned, and there was nothing i could do about it, so i just forgot about the forum until last week when i accidently stumbled on it.
There i saw Know-it-all-wanna-be was still a member, so i hacked his ps2central account and posted in his name just to get my own back, i thought this would be obvious to the admins and pressumed that they would re-instate him...check his ip,email, joined date, post count!!!!.
I do have a consciance (bad spelling!!), and would appreciate it if you let him back in,... i cant believe he hasnt emailed you to find out what is going on.
Admins check your records about 2 years ago...im sure you can work it out. IDLEGIT,KNOW-IT-ALL-WANNA-BE and KNOW-IT-ALL- WANNA BE....(check slight difference in the 2 names),all three are still on your members list.
