The thing is cool, and it\'s about time they got to the Ghz landmark.
The thing that annoys me along with most gEEk\'s out there, no ddr, it\'s such a bottle neck. How on earth can Apple forget a thing like this.

Well it\'s the rewamped Apollo G4, so that\'s good news, but still no ddr ram :mad:
But the Mac doesn\'t suck for everything, it can do anything the pc does, just not gaming, and that\'s not because of lack of hardware, just support (sadly)

of course it would whoop a 2ghz p4, because the p4 is crap. It is supposed to seem to run at 1.5 ghz , but id say the p4 is probably as good as an athlon 1.2, except mad more expensive. Anyway an athlon xp 2000+ (1.67ghz) could eat that mac up let alone a dual xp setup. The gf4 and everything is nice, but such a waste in a mac.

The P4 needs to have a highly optimized code for it to show it\'s true strenghts.
And you need to relise that most of the biggest and most important Apple apps are AltiVec optimized, that is what makes the G4 still worth while a 128 bit vector unit. Even the Athlon with all it\'s fpu horsepower wouldn\'t be able to keep up with a dual Ghz Mac running a program that had both a good SMP code and an AltiVec optimized code.
Still, in normal computing mode that AthlonXP slaps most procs silly.

what interest me is apple imac can run up to 15 gigaflop. If I didn\'t remember it wrong, ps2 can do 6.2. But one thing I don\'t like the iMac is that you cant upgrade and change motherboard like a pc. Using a window running on a pc is easier to me than using IMac version. About pentium 4, only thing good about them is trying to make the fastest cpu possibly, like the 2.2 gigahertz pentium 4 but was still outperform by AMD Athlon 1.66 gighertz. i agree with idiotcrap that Amd Athlon is cheaper than Pentium 4.

You\'re a little confused there, the new PowerMac is running the G4 7450, while the iMac is running the older 7410.
The 7450 is newer and features things like SOI and L3 cache, the pipeline is also 7 stages whereas the 7410 has a 4 stage pipeline.

Here\'s my wishlist:
Dual PowerMac 1 GHz, 1.5 Gb RAM, 300+ Gb HD, Final Cut Pro 3, Canon XL-1s, 24" widescreen TFT, etc... think of all the porn movies you could make with that sweet setup. ;)
