Title: Damn home theater system broke...
Post by: soundifound on January 31, 2002, 12:41:55 PM
I got the system for Christmas where the optical in didn\'t work until I opened it up.  It worked great for about 2 weeks where it always started cutting in and out.  So I got pissed yesterday and opened it up only to find that one of the plastic plugs had melted onto the motherboard.  I put it all back where I get no sound output now.  So, it looks like I have to deal without my surround sound for awhile until I get it repaired.  Hopefully, my warranty\'s still good after I opened it, but they probably couldn\'t tell anyways.  Oh well...

It was an AIWA.  Sony and Aiwa are basically the same company, so...i guess.

AH, sony receiver!!!  Do I need to go into my disertation on why I would never buy a Sony receiver?  Nah, I won\'t..

I will think of you when I am watching the Crapper Bowl in widescreen plus surround sound.  Yummy.  I just wish Fox would get off their ass and start broadcasting in HD.  This 480 progressive mode that they are in blows monkey nuts.

Ah, it was only 200 bucks for 5.1 DD surround sound.  The sound is more than adequate for my room that I use it in, a shame it doesn\'t work:mad: .  And I\'ll be watching the SB on a 56" HDTV, so all is not lost..

WOO HOOO   A fellow HDTVer!!!  Rock on!!!  Sorry, mine is 96", but that\'s ok.  It\'s the girth that counts.

What are you using for a receiver for the HD?  I have the RCA STB.  Works well.  I only use it for HD stuff now though because I have an ultimate TV now.

By the way, if you don\'t have a UTV, or a TIVO, you must by one now!!!  It is the best thing ever.  I am addicted.  I never watch anything but UTV now.  Being able to pause and click through commercials is the greatest thing ever.
