Title: Tattoos
Post by: SmallLady on February 02, 2002, 03:52:01 AM
Let\'s talk about tattoos.

Who here has them? What kind of? Where? When did you get it? How much did it hurt? Any regrets? Ever get tired/bored of it? Are you planning to get more?

And anything else you\'d like to share...

Because I am becoming more & more interested in getting one.

My wife has a tiny flower on her ankle.

It really depends on what you want to be in life.  I actually like them, but I would probably only do it to my ankle, or an area that doesn\'t get noticed unless I am being casual.  No matter how smart you are, you look like an idiot when you are all tattooed up and pierced.  Kind of like people with a southern accent.  I always assume they are stupid.  Problem is 90% of the time I\'d be right.:thepimp:

i plan on getting a tattoo when im 18, something small, but still nice and badass ;) most likely on my left shoulder blade or something..

something like this is something like i would want..

another direction for the thread maybe, if you have pictures of tattoo\'s that you think some people might like to get (ie. me) it would be cool to post it... if the Lady doesnt mind me asking people to do that  :D  (not that i think people will)  cos im still shopping around for types

I think it\'s a good idea for people to post pictures of the tattoos they\'d want.

That one Bob posted is pretty cool, but I wouldn\'t take anything like that :) I was thinking of getting a Japanese \'Kanji\' character, that means something important to me, like "Aiki" (harmony of ki, or something like that) because I try to live according to the ideals of Aikido, or "Zanshin" which means an alert mind (or something) because that\'s how I want to be. It has to be beautiful, and have a meaning.

I will take the tattoo somewhere I can hide it easily. I only want people to see it when I let them. I was thinking lower back.

And that way I won\'t see it when I don\'t want to either :) Kinda like mm. I will not get tired of it that easily :)

If I would get a tattoo I wouldn\'t get a small wussy tattoo. I would want a huge one that would cover my entire arm. Skulls and evil stuff on it. The problem is that they are expensive.

No doubt, would I choose a Dragon. I love this mysterious fantasy characters :) I have everything from figures, posters etc..... a tattoo would not be a bad idea indeed.
This is the posters i have currently:

Well, I\'m not one for self mutilation, but If I were I\'d probably get some sort of a Castlevania SoTN tattoo. Maybe of Death standing in the caverns or something. er..I always thought that getting a Primus Skeeter tattoo would be pretty cool also.

I\'m joining the military sometime this year so maybe I should get something like the fighting hellfish shoulder tattoo...;)

All I have is a triad of dots between my thumb and index finger on my right hand. Got em back when we used to make our own tattoo guns. I couldda had a steelie face on my ankle, but if this shyt is permenant.. then I\'m gonna have a pro do it.

I don\'t want too many, just a Praying Hands of Jesus on my left chest, A tribal braid around my right arm, and something cool like the 40oz to Freedom Sun between my shoulder blades.

Lizard, about 4 inches by 1.5 inches on right bicep - yes, I do realize it\'s an odd place.  A short-sleeve polo conceals it completely.  It\'s been there for about 2 years, took a little less than an hour.  $80  Hurt like a hundred paper cuts for the first 5 minutes, then the pain fades.  The healing process is a pain - you have to take care of your new tattoo, but at the same time not baby it too much...if that makes any sense.

I had a skull and cross bones on my right arm, right above the wrist. I got wasted one night \'really wasted\' and me and some friends decided to go get tattoos. And the tattoo guy gave it to me even while I was drunk. This is supposed to be a NO-NO.

Anyways haven awoken the next day and realized what I had done I had it removed about a month and a half later. Now I have a very unnoticible scar, you can\'t even tell I had a tattoo there.

i have a black work dragon on my right shoulder, and i\'ll probably be getting another dragon this summer, then when i hit the force this next year i\'ll probably get some kind of police thing on my other arm.  as for the pain, they don\'t hurt at all, mine took three hours, and i fell asleep under the needle twice, it\'s acctually very soothing.

I\'m surprised & glad to see that so many have tattoos. And since no one says they\'ve regretted it.... (except one but that doesn\'t count :)) Well, this small lady\'s gonna start looking for a decent shop & artist :)

I\'ll post a picture of it when it has healed, in case someone wants to see it ^_^

Yeah, that is about the only time I remember that I have one. I got a 5 inch long cross on my arm. No it\'s not in an area that everyone can see, only when I have my shirt off.

If you get a \'too, get one with color, they look the best in my opinion.:thepimp:

i have thought about it but i just havent done it

my friend is a tattoo artist so i could get a great deal on it but its just a matter of doing it

but yea about the pain - it depends on where you get it the two most panful from what i have heard are the sides of your back - like where you have love handles and then also the back of your knees

heres something i would consider

(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftattoos.com%2Fgallery%2Ftbl%2Fnewmoon%2Fdan01.jpg&hash=8024d44fb748ab5fb3bfebadd83acb24f2834da8)

but not so large and get it on my chest right where my heart is

I have a hung monkey on one arm (don\'t ask!!) and Homer SImpson on the other.
I got the Homer done about 5 years ago for a laugh and am getting it covered over soon.
Aswell as getting this covered over I plan on getting another on my back sometime in the next 6 months.

I never really liked the idea of a tatoo.  Of course when I was younger I\'d buy the fake tatoos because, well they were badass... but I know when I\'m old and wrinkly I\'m not going to want a dragon on my butt... or something along those lines.  So... no tatoo for me

I am glad you dug up this thread, because now I have done it, I have got a tattoo. :)

I had it done on Friday... And it did hurt a lot, but nothing I couldn\'t handle, didn\'t scream, didn\'t cry. ;)

I said I\'d post a pic... But now I\'m pretty paranoid, what if someone decides to have a similar one made :) It\'s on my lower back, people won\'t see it unless I want them to. I\'ve had no problems whatsoever so far, it doesn\'t even itch. No regrets! :)

Oh right, I chose the two kanji (japanese writing) for "budo", martial way.

No offense, but I gurantee plenty other people have it done for the simple fact kanji is the latest tattoo craze. I\'ve seen southern rednecks who have no clue what kanji even is, but like the "symbols" and have them tattoo\'ed on their neck and back,etc...My point? Go ahead and post a picture, don\'t worry about someone copying it. There is the general idea in the body modification community, that there is nothing that hasn\'t been done before. As long as the tattoo means something to you personally, it doesn\'t matter if someone clones it or not.
;)

With that said...If you are seriously interested in body modification, I have a URL that you would enjoy, its the largest and most dedicated site to all forms of body modification. I can\'t post it on the board due to the fact it also has pictures and covers more exreme body modifications (gential piercings, tattoo\'s,etc). Some things that may be considered pornographic. If you want the URL, just let me know.

To give you an idea on how wide range the body modifcation is and how much is covered, here is a picture from the web-site.

LIC, I know what you mean, before I got tattooed I read someone\'s opinion that taking kanji is stupid, because it\'s "in" or whatever, and so many people do it.

But I decided that I would do it anyway, because no matter how many people abuse them, kanji is what is most "me". It tells the world (or doesn\'t, since it\'s pretty much hidden :)) about my love for Japanese culture. And since I cannot and do not want to change that, I chose kanji.

Also, I actually know what my kanji mean, when those who just do it cause it\'s "cool" may not :) And they have a huge meaning to me. Budo is how I want to live my life. :) There\'s other symbolism too... Martial path is painful, and lasts forever. :)

And you are probably right. I should post a pic, incase someone\'s actually interested... I mean... I probably am not the first with a budo tattoo :)

But right now I think I\'ll stick with this one I have. :)
