Title: recommended games part II
Post by: mm on February 05, 2002, 06:36:27 PM
ICO

in a word, wow
its rare when a game captivates me from beginning to end, so much that i ignore every other game i own

ico was a nonstop treat

the puzzles were strange, yet not frustrating.  they seemed "logical"

between jak and daxter and ico, the last two weeks have been very fun.

now onto, devil may cry

For RPG fans...

If you\'ve finished FFX, i\'d definatly suggest a highly underrated game. Okage: Shadow King   Dry humor at it\'s best.

For you FPS fans...

Of course Half-Life  would make a good pick.  Good gameplay, improved graphics, your basic needs.

For those who adore Adventure...

I cannot suggest any other game but Silent Hill 2! I mean, there is no other game I played six times, and laughed my ass off when I finally got the secret ending.  Pure satisfaction here.

Hmmm, let\'s talk platformers...

It\'s a PSone game but certainly deserves mention.  One of Capcom\'s oldest franchises... Mega Man X6  The japanese dubs may get annoying, but phenomenal gameplay, and camera angles that will never die, plus some interesting extras thrown in, you\'ve got yourself a keeper at $20.

That\'s my reccomendations.

If you like speed, cars and that weird feeling, like your heart is trying to escape your body up through your throat, why not try BurnOut. It\'s especially cool if you happen to own a decent steering wheel to go with it, but is great when played with a controller also.

If anyone doesn\'t know what it\'s about; it\'s all about mad speed, mad crashes, mad skills and pure gaming (racing) heaven. I never knew racing into oncoming traffic at higher than reasonable speeds could be so exhilarating. The controls, graphics (though a bit flickery at times), and especially the superbly implemented "zone"-gauge really make up a racing game that\'s yet to be challenged when it comes to quick thrills and chills.

I really didnt like burnout at all, just wasnt a fan, but dont take my word. Try renting it. Funny really, it seemed like the type of game that would appeal to me.

10-12 hours and one broken controller - due to one jump that seems impossible, until you get it at the EXACT angle.

Drakan : The Ancient Gates

Good fun

Huge full 3d worlds with a decent camera control

very nice graphics with little to no aliasing, pretty solid 30FPS (rare dips) Procedural rendering and texturing gives the game some graphic flare

Lots of NPC\'s, sidequests, and plenty of main objectives.

Action Adventure with a good helping of RPG

Riding a Dragon and battling in the air

Lots of stuff to collect and buy.

Unique magic system,

realtime battles with a  easy to use combo system for hand to hand melee

Drakan is underrated

Playing FF10 right now, at 90 hours of gameplay. Could have beaten it about 40 hours ago but there\'s just too much to do! Anyway, its definitely a sweet game. I\'ve also played the Bond game and that was ok, beat it pretty quickly though, however, if you want to get all the gold ratings, you would have to play a while. Didn\'t care for that though. I\'m thinking about getting Shadow Hearts next, anyone played that? Read some reviews and they said it was a great game.
