Post by: videoholic on February 07, 2002, 09:58:18 AM
First one to get this right gets a date with Webhead.

A dog can run fifty miles in a day. How far could he run into a 120 square mile forest in two days?

he would clear thru to the other side, if he ran 50 miles a day for two days

120 squared = 30 by 40 or 20 by 60
read closer sublime

Wrong...

The answer is it can run 60 miles into the forest.

Once it pasts 60 miles, he is now running OUT of the forest.

Love that brain teaser...

what if the forest is 120 miles long and one mile wide [120 sq. miles], and he runs down the length?  then it is indeed 100 miles he has ran in two days

:P

Or what if it is 480 miles long by 1/4 mile.  Then he could run, oh, wait.  It would be 100 miles..

But indeed with your thoughts MM you have a problem, after 60 miles he like ashford said, would be running out of the forest, not into it.

ASHFORD, YOU WIN!!!!

Although you are going to have to fight with Sublime concerning coordinating the dates of our multi named friend.

Ah, yes...

But if thats true, then he still only ran 60 miles into the forest. The other 40 miles, he is running OUT of the forest.

unless the dog never has any intentions of leaving the forest.. what if its getting a ball that was thrown in there (by my super arm obviously) then he is only ever going into the forest, until he turns around and starts coming back out of the forest

i win

You know Bobby has a point.  What if the dog was just chasing a ball?

I say that Bob gets to go with Sublime and Ashford on the date with PS2Girl, Webhead, and Yahoo.

That will make for a great date.

You can all fit in a 4 seater too.
