Title: Which version of Half Life should I get?

Game of the Year or Platinum Edition? Platinum contains Half Life and all the mods, but can\'t I just download them off the net(the mods)?

Yeah, u can download all the mods. get game of the year addition, it comes with opposing forces too

If you have the bandwidth, it\'s BETTER to download the mods than to buy them in the retail version.  For one, you\'re sure of getting the newest version.

In addition, all the brands of the real life weapons in Counter-Strike were not licensed for that mod because it was started as a free product.  When Sierra started selling CS, they had to modify it to change the weapons names to some dorky fictitious names.  The downloadable free version still contains all the authentic names.

I got the game of the year edition, and it works fine. It was cheap too - although I\'ve never even tried Opposing Forces yet (I got it so I could play CS and Day of Defeat (btw, COOL mod! Get it! Get it! http://www.dayofdefeatmod.com)). :)

Counter-Strike is the only mod I play.
