from some sources I heard there\'s quiet a lot of differences. u fight griffon/phantom at some different places, Nelo is named Nero. The japanese version was harder and had a few more cut scenes while the US version had better graphics in some places.

Don\'t forget the slower PAL version which has HUGE black borders at the top and bottom of the screen!!

Nelo and Nero would be the same in Japan. The have no "L\'s" in their lettering system so syllable that use L\'s are replaced with R\'s.
Example: In FF8 We knew her as Rinoa but in Japan her name would be spelled Linoa. Lobster would be Robster. It\'s hard to show when I can\'t write the kana for you to see.

wow. So, does that means Rikku would have been spelled Likku in FFX?

I heard there was also one extra difficulty level on the J-version; Easy. It\'s strange how we only got Easy-Auto — Normal — Hard — You\'ll-be-rippin\'-your-hair-out. I myself wondered what happened to Easy.
