Well, imagine if the Forsberg was healthy...Sweden could probably beat most of the best teams in this thing. Thing is, Germany isn\'t, well, good at Hockey.

Just saw the goals now, Näslund was good :)
I saw the match Monday against czech, it was a thriller, but we won :)
So next up for a beating is Whiterussia, and then we\'re in semifinal :D

Hedburg, Alfreddson, Sundin, Naslund, Holdstrom, Lidstrom. Yeah, Swedes - best front 6 in the Olympics.
USA - Rhicter is weak, and the Canadians always choke. the Czech\'s only got Hasek and Jagr, so I think the Swedes bot the best shot...but who knows.

Haha, your goalie was SALO?! Salo is trash, yo. I\'m sorry, but he is nothing compared to Cujo in Edmonton and never will be. Leave it up to him to blow a countries Aspiration of a Gold. Figures. Oh well, if it was during the course of the game, Naslund, Sundin, and Alffredson should have made sure it wasn\'t up to Salo. Only 3 goals, when the US was capable of racking up 8 against them is kind of iffy. Even with that, Lidstrom, the best defenseman in the NHL (In my Biased IMO) should have been able to stop some of the stuff coming Salo\'s way.
Then again, Salo is trash, so it probably could have been twice as bad.
Oh yeah, the US beats Germany 5 to 0...on with the Russians...

And now the US has doubled their medal count from their previous Winter Olympics Record, 26, not bad at all.

its on the front page of the local newspaper here, and i ignore it everyday
sure it meant something back in the 40\'s and 80\'s when the nazi and communist parties had something to prove
only thing that concerns me is who wins the gold in mens hockey [womens is no contest]
i had my bets on the swede but salo saw something different
i had also hoped the fins would beat canada, but they played the "dump and chase" game that ruined the NHL, last night and lost to canada [oh the shame]. thats what they get for not playing "the moose"
my updated prediction are:

the "nuetral zone trap", and "dump and chase" have ruined the game play
all it would take for the NHL to get some excitement back is to ditch the two line pass
it slows down gameplay, but then again
stoppage in gameplay = more revenue from comercials

Talking about overall medal count is worthless, for one, like mm said, Hockey is the debate on hand. And two hockey is the only sport in the winter olympics worth watching. God the summer olympics are so much better.
Now lets all watch U.S. win the gold. Down with canada.

Took me a while to see this one, what with being on vacation and all, but I gotta say something about this one. Mike Richter is by no means weak. In fact, if I were making a team, I\'d take him over any other goalie on any other team with the exception of maybe Hasek. Richter is one of the best big game goalies in hockey. He has proved that time and again, whether it\'s in the NHL finals in 94, or in Hockey\'s World Cup, in I believe 96, when the Americans won, and Richter was easily their MVP. So far, Richter has looked damn good in these Olympics too. He was great against the Russians in their last game against him, and that was his first game in the Olympics too, adjusting to the bigger ice and all. If the US does win the gold in these Olympics, it won\'t be because of their defense or their amazing front line (which has also looked damn good), it will be because of that guy crouching in front of the net with the statue of liberty on his helmet.
Oh, and by the way, hockey is not the only good Olympic sport. Don\'t underestimate the entertainment value of Curling.

Shockwaves, coming from a Rangers fan, that really means a lot. \'96 you said? That was 5 years ago. Rhicter WAS good, hell, in \'94, he was the best goalie in the game, but as the years have gone, so has a bit of his skill. He\'s looked good so far, but something tells me it won\'t last. If it isn\'t him who gives, it\'ll be something else, but the US will choke somewhere down the road.

theres far more stratedgy and skill involved in curling than i ever thought before this winter olympics

Here in Buffalo, NY we get the Canadian TV stations, so you can usually find curling on sundays.

They wanted to free up some $$, besides, he just wasn\'t trying anymore, and neither was our offense. They got used to him stopping everything, so they could win by scoring only a couple goals.
BTW, kozlov sux. big help there....

Yeah, Kozlov does suck. He was alright for the Wings for a bit, but now he\'s out for 2 months or so with the Sabres, and I don\'t know what you did with that pick we gave you, but lord knows it probably isn\'t helping you right now :)
Getting Hasek for the Wings was probably the greatest move the Wings management could have pulled off. Osgood was proving that he was the choke artist of the millenium with his Game 4 against the Kings (gives up 3 goals in last 6 minutes of the game, and game winner in Overtime), and he needed to go.
Then again, who knows, Kozlov \'might\' pay off for some down the road dividends...though that\'s one huge \'might\' :)

Don\'t count your chickens before they hatch, Hasek is a CLASSIC choke artist. Just wait til the playoffs when he injures that groin...

Then damn, in \'98 he must have made a deal with the devil or someting. Olympic gold and the Stanley Cup Finals I believe. Personaly, I think he\'s going to be awesome, simply because he knows he\'s got the tools around him to win it.
Now if you want a choke artist...turn to Chris Osgood.

Hasek\'s a great goalie, don\'t get me wrong-0, he\'s just not as good as he used to be. When he was in Buff, he was stopping 40+ shots a night + standing on his head because our defence sucked. Now he doesn\'t have to work nearly as hard, and his save % is nowhere near what it used to be. I hope he does get a cup tho- if he does, he\'ll retire...
