I\'ve been trying to install an ethernet card, and my comp doesn\'t find it

The problem is most likely between the keyboard and the chair.

If this isn’t the case...buy another computer.

While I admit I\'m no tekkie, I have installed a few PCI cards in my day. I\'m running XP pro, and when they built it  I didn\' t know If I\'d be getting a DSL, so they just put a 56k in. I\'ve installed the board, (tried twice in 2 diff. slots) installed the WOL wire, And windows does not detect new hardware. Maybe a faulty card? Tried running the install software and it says there\'s no LAN card present. In the device manager, it says there is an ethernet device (not my model) but there\'s no PCI card.  ummmmm.............

Could be a faulty card then, or a faulty pci slot. try the companies website that made the card for XP related help

yea, done that. the website sez the card is compatible with xp, but the box doesn\'t. maybe outdated card? anyway, taking it back today to exchange it for another, if that doesn\'t work I will throw it out the window. My company\'s computer guy comes in soon, He\'s the one who picked out the card for me, I\'ll poke his noggin.

Zat you, diz? yeah, I put it in a comp here at work, and it found it right away. so it\'s a windows xp- related thingy according to TDN, where I bought the comp. They sold me one that will work for $12.
