What kind of TV do you have?
Oh! Problem solved! :p

Well it can really depend on what you value. If you want total compatibility and easy to find games, then get the PS2 in your country.
If you have a multi-format TV, enjoy NTSC-made Japanese games without any black bars, and don\'t like playing Tekken 25% slower than the rest of the world, then I\'d opt of an NSTC PS2.

Definatly NTSC!

Depends where you live mate. If you are in europe, it would be easier to get PAL, but NTSC is cheaper for the system, and games, but you gotta pay delivery charges. NTSC games come out a lot sooner than PAL games too, e.g Metal Gear Solid 2 came out in the US (NTSC) in November, its coming out in europe (PAL) in 2 weeks!!

Get the system that\'s in your country... As for pal being slower.. It is. But u don\'t even notice unless u go playing a ntsc system before or after. I have Tekken 2 NTSC and PAL version. I had the pal version first. I thought it ran fine.. Then i played the NTSC version and it was faster. Pal = better color NTSC = faster/more Fps. :)
But just get what system your country sells.

matters wher you come from, if europe, get pal, ntsc is faster, but you wont be able to borrow any of your mates games, plus it can be hard getting imports, if you dont have the shops near you.
or i heard on here somewhere there is a ps2 that can play any dvd and region game, but it costs alot more

Dont bother with PAL PS2, even if u are in Europe. I bought the Messiah Mod Chip to my Pal PS2 , so it plays Japenese, US NTSC and PAL + all sort of DVD movies etc. I recommend NTSC, because u will get the games about 6 months before PAL, and u dont need to worry about getting a half game (TWB is a good example) or getting a slower game (Tekken 2, 3 etc).

thanx for all the replies guys just to let u know im getting a pal ps2 cuz thats what i get overhere also cuz the price of the ntsc system was way too high.
BTW im guessing that all these issues about the pal ps2 have to do with the software and not the hardware right?
