Sources from Microsoft\'s X-Box division and independent developers sent a number of e-mails to NCS yesterday after we posted our little FAQ. Unfortunately, Microsoft appears to have mandated that all USA X-Box software titles not recognize any controllers from other territories. Japanese controllers won\'t work with USA X-Box software.
This policy apparently extends from joypads to future joysticks from the usual suspects such as ASCII and Hori. When and if ASCII manufactures a Fighting Type pad/stick for the Japanese X-Box market, USA gamers won\'t be able to share in the love. There you have it. The first console to ever completely lock out import controllers. Bravo...

This is interesting, I wonder why MS would mandate this? What harm could imports do? It doesn\'t matter to me or most people for that matter because I like the existing controller and if people hate it that much why get the Jap. one when they can get a converter and use a dual shock?
Still, all that being said, it is a stupid move by MS.

you are just limiting what your costumers can do - it doesnt make sense to me
it seems stupid to take away the fact if someone likes that controller over this one - they should have the choice to switch

That sux. I was hoping that maybe i could at least use the jap controller if i got an xbox. Hmmm.... i wonder what ill do now

We can at least hope that our friends, the third party, can reproduce the Japanese controller for the American Market.

Why do that and let people import the controllers when MS can just release 2 versions and charge extra for the Japanese remodel in the states and make more cash? So so sneaky...

It\'s confirmed, the Japanese Xbox controller will work on American consoles.
February 20, 2002 - Despite reports from NCS, the Japanese Xbox controller will work with an American Xbox. Those of us who have griped about the Xbox controller being too big, will finally be able to get their hands on a comfortable controller. It\'s unclear whether the Japanese controller will be marketed in America or if you\'ll have to import it. We\'ll follow up on this shortly and let you know Microsoft\'s plans as well as what you can expect to pay for a Japanese controller.

yeah i know I ordered a mp3 player, but 2 days after i got it it wasn\'t working anymore and send it back :(
BTW mm they aren\'t allowed to ship to the US anymore due to the piracy thing
