Title: Getting a new job, Need help.
Post by: theomen on February 20, 2002, 03:16:59 PM
I\'m going to be joining the police force after next summer, so I have started doind some inquiring about the pay scales here in cali.  I have eliminated the departments down to two, Berkley P.D, and Santa Clara P.D, they are pretty equal in pay Santa Clara pays 77520 first year and gradually goes up to  93984 the fith year, and tops out at 98k a year.  Berkley starts at 60,000, and will top out at 100,000 in 2007.  My question is does anybody live in either of these two cities or have personal experience in either city, I want to know which one would be best to live in, ie weather, and somewhat low rent, I don\'t want to pay 4k a month for a shack.

Holy crap....98k a year for being a cop? That\'s insane! You move here, and you get to live in all the nice homes if you make 98k a year.

See Yuz.

oh just so people don\'t think every cop makes this kinda money, normal cops average 36k-45k, it\'s just that the Bay Area pays alot more than anywhere in the US (Suffolk NY aside, they pay 105k a year)  The Bay Area has to do this because of the cost of living and such, but I\'ll just commute and save some cash.

I was going to say the same thing.  It costs 3X\'s as much to live in the bay area as it does in Tampa. I would love to move to San Fransisco, but I\'d need over 200k just to break even. That sucks.

Oh yeah, and we don\'t have state income taxes!!!  WOOHOOO!!

Maybe that is why Gruden left!!

YAHOO!!!  WE GOT GRUDEN!!!  Am I even spelling his name right?

Peace.

there was a guy on our local news who was crying after Gruden took the job, and he said that he had to take the rest of the week off, because he was to distraught to work.
