A: those pics took a day and a half to download on my high-speed connection.
B: They look like crap.
-
He\'s... he\'s... is that a monkey radar on his back????
I luuuuuuv the N64-like backgrounds.
-
wtf?? they are from a dutch site and should be fast to download for me..
but no it took around 20 mins..
What is that game supossed to be? what is that thing on marios back? and ooh look at those textures. GC is a texture monster right  well this game looks like a N64 game to me
They look like total ****, they make those bruce lee pics look great
nintendo you need to get your head out of you bumhole!
-
this is a N64 game right??? or am I getting something wrong?!
-
Those are obviously bad pictures, as the movie of the game that was released last E3 looked outstanding. Sheesh, calm down people.
-
The device on Mario\'s back is a water gun.
-
oops, i almost vomited on my keyboard
Ugh
-
These are bad pics,I\'m sure the GAME will be a lot fun ! I hope:)
-
Ummmmm...ehhhhhh...egggggggg...disgusting. Obviously bad pictures, and hopefully, EARLY picutures. Nothing to be worried about, yet.
-
those have to be fake or from GBA

 lol! Yeah everything i have seen of this game was not that good. This definately cannot be gba because gba cannot do 3d or polys that good (mario). I liked mario 64 but this doesnt look like it will be that great, but you know, whatever floats your boat.
-
id go as far to say dark cloud looks better, eventhough for the time and all dark cloud looked ok.

That it did.

Wtf are those? Those are no way pics of the REAL game! I\'ve seen many pics of the game and they looked nothing like that!
-
In fact here are some better ones!

actually the movies from E3 had Mario Sunshine looking like crap just not this crappy
what were you watching ???
-
There must be something wrong with these pictures. Usually, the game looks better after the first pics (unless the first pics are renders that are "too good to be true". Which the original Mario Sunshine pics are not).

Yea..okay those pic\'s still suck. The Starwars game is by far the neatest game I\'ve seen on GC and that get\'s boring after about 5 minutes of playing it though.
-
A) Im on the worst 56k connection there is and they downloaded almost instantly :D
B) I was expecting bad captures and was going to compare it to J&D pictures... but this..... look at the tree, the leaves... not only are thewsae bad pictures, but they are bad graphics.. BAD
i would expect the video to look better, but i wouldnt expect to be impressed..
-
Guess Nintendo doesn\'t think it\'s a big deal though since they\'re still marketing to kids that watch Sesame Street everymorning, as long as the colors are colorful and bright.
-
bah, i just figured it out, those pics have been enlarged
i remember when there were enlarged FFX pics floating around, it made their quality look like that
-
I read at some website that the backgrounds morph in some way. maybe the backgrounds are made up of paint and you(mario) have to wash out the paint with that little gun of yours.
Sounds silly, but it could be true.
-
This game looks more like a zelda game. Mario needs to stay in his own genre. "And that\'s all I have to say about that."
-
Uhhhhhh.......whats up with the graphics? Looks kinda n64ish.......:thepimp:
-
I doubt that these are enlarged - mario and the trees have got real bad jaggies (results in enlarging an image) - but the score and the other icons aren\'t jagged (which they should, if they were enlarged).
-
those pics only took 20 secs each on my 56k modem. and they look shi*.
-
bah oh well
this game looks bad that if they turn this around they might be able to turn that BRuce Lee one around too
sees there is hope for everything
-
- The video from E3 looked damn good, in my humble opinion. Even if it didn\'t look "impressive" it looked better than these pictures. Now do you honestly think Nintendo downgraded the graphics this much? I doubt it.
- On the same note, Nintendo is the harshest and most controlling company about not letting screens or previews out of games unless they are top-notch, which is the reason NOJ hasn\'t allowed any debug units out to the press to play beta copies of games. So, do you think Nintendo would release terrible pictures of one of its top-notch titles? I doubt it.
- Bob already hit this, but I\'ll do it again. Does anyone remember the FFX photos (enlarged, etc) that went around early on? They was terrible pictures which made the quality of the graphics look ****ty. Could that happen with Mario? Yes. Yet, most of you ignore that possibility.
- Saying Mario SUnshine looks like a Zelda game is just plain odd. Was Mario64 a Zelda - like game? No. Mario Sunshine is the (non-offical) sequel to Mario 64. So, how exactly is Mario Sunshine like a Zelda game?
My point? Most likely it is bad pictures (Something IGN has been noted for many\'a\'times). Wait until E3 (May) and see if the game looks any better - which I am almost positive it will. Not to mention, we\'ll know for sure how the game plays then, as NIntendo has said it will be in playable form .
-
*cough*

Er, considering the NGC is a textures powerhouse, don\'t you think this game should look at least a little better than J&D?
And for all we know, the footage shown previously wasn\'t from the actual game. They might be pulling another Zelda/Celda on us.
-
another luigis mansion...sheesh...nintend cant program for shot!...look at SMBM...low polygons also...what a dissapointment...

You really need to hush.
Luigi\'s Mansion had awesome had awesome lighting and shadows, as noted by ever crictic.
As for the Super Smash Bro\'s: Melee comment, the game is simply gorgeous, espically if you see the detail in every character. Play the game, press pause and zoom around. The game is detailed in every form.
Before you knock something, I suggest actually having a *clue* on what you\'re speaking of. No one is even talking about the polygon count, they are talking about the TEXTURES.. Big difference....
(P.S - Before anyone starts the SMSBM bagging, I don\'t even like the game.)
(P.P.S - I think Nintendo know damn well how to program for their own system . Geeze...)
As for Iron\'s comment about the "they may be pulling another ZELDA/CELDA on us", these are two different things. Zelda (Celda?) was changed design wise. We are talkin\' graphics here. Big, big difference. We\'re talking a downgrading in quality of graphics.
I\'m not saying these pictures are bad or not, but at least take in account they very well may be. Most reasons point to the fact they are most likely bad pictures. THey may not be. THey may be. Wait until E3, which isn\'t that far.. Geeze..
-
Ironfist, were did you get that screen from?
By the way the graphics do look shockingly unappealing, but I know Nintendo won’t let us down, hell this is Nintendo’s biggest franchise, they can’t let us down.
I’m only hoping they don’t miss Zelda up as much as Mario (Graphically) because I liked Ocarina of Time a lot and judging from the stuff they’ve shown for Zelda for Gamecube I feel a little disappointed in Nintendo.
Hopefully Nintendo proves me wrong and makes Mario and Zelda fantastic and stunning games.
We’ll all see at E3 if Nintendo will make us feel a little remorseful and ashamed of are self’s for ever doubting them.

Just so you know, Celda is what the new Zelda is referred to all over the internet. I for one love the new Celda look, so it wasn\'t meant to be a bash.
I was referring to how they showed us something fake the first time with Zelda just to get everyone hyped up for the game, just like they could have shown us some fake Mario footage just to get everyone exited. It is unkown how this game actually plays (I have heard things like Mario uses that water gun to wash paint off of things, and that paint falls from the sky...kind of weird), so for all we know Nintendo might be trying to do something very innovative with there graphics. But based on these screen shots alone, which is all we have to base the graphics in Mario on right now, it does not look any better than a lot of other next gen games. Until we get better pictures, Nintendo fans will have to face the wrath of graphics whores all over the internet. :)
EDIT: GAMES, I got it off of another forum, but it originated from here: http://console.fragzone.se/view.php?id=7222

No problems downloading here, however, I hope it\'s the pictures themselves that are crap and not the game.
-
Nope these are official pics from GC.
I found them at C&VG, and they even comented how bad it looks.
-
That brings up the question
WTF were those earlier pics? :sconf:
Nintendo, get your act together
-
In all seriousness, I watched the videos from spaceworld and the game looked damn good. It wasn\'t a graphical tour-de-force but it looked damn good for the type of game it is.
BTW, We don\'t take kindly to SSB:M bashing around these parts. My roommates and I play nothing but Smash Brothers and GTA3.
-
Riiiiiiiiiiigggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhht.
Look, even if the pics were enlarged, they still do not look as good as the original E3 pics, and it is not an impressive looking game we expect from Nintendo. Even so, many of us are NOT blind and are waiting for E3 to see how this game turns out. While we had high expectations for this game (at least graphically) that these pics are shooting down (enlarged or not), many of us will hold critizing the game until next E3.
-
P.P.S - I think Nintendo know damn well how to program for their own system . Geeze...)
Perhaps they got used to programming for their under-powered N64? And that \'low-polygon\' mentality carried on with them to the GameCube? :)
Seriously though, while I am disappointed at these shots, I\'d rather wait till E3, to have better judgment for the game. Better yet, I\'d rather wait till I see it in person with my own eyes. (Though I want to try and go to E3 this year.) I\'m also disappointed with the new HUD.. personally I preferred the old one, why the change?
-
Here\'s a pic that didn\'t come out so crummy...

Take it for what it\'s worth, but I just wanted to say that those fence gates Mario\'s hanging on were in Super Mario World, too. Remember it now? How cool is that?

For clarification\'s sake:
Miyamoto also had a few things to say about Mario Sunshine, the first true Mario game for GameCube. "I don\'t want to say much about it yet, only that that thing on his back is indeed sort of a water gun. The controls are actually largely based on Super Mario 64\'s. I\'m only really showing this to prove that Mario\'s ready to go; he\'ll definitely be launched in Europe this year."

I\'m getting this game, the mustache alone has 15 polygons, imagine the entire model, at least 200 polygons. and the textures my god, at least 8bit-dithered 256 color textures, taking up a whooping 6K of memory
-
Mario sunshine does look better than those posted pictures without a doubt. You will see what I mean @ E3. :)

yeah they do dude, thats partly what helped me come to the conclusion that they were enlarged..
then after i posted my post, Ryu showed me the pics in their original resolution..
still not that impressive, but a HELL of a lot better than that
everyone who is bashing it needs to calm down and take a nice warm enema..
