Title: SSX Snowboarding
Post by: The Led on February 24, 2002, 12:18:29 AM
Hi folks!

Does anyone have SSX Snowboarding?  I’ve played the demo on the PS2 disk that I got with the console.  So far I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve seen of the game, on the demo disk.

Is this a great game?  Is it worth getting?  Typically I enjoy racing games (WWR and GT3 ASPEC).

Let me have your thoughts?  Also, is anyone out there from South Africa?  Where can I get SSX Snowboarding?  No one in Jo’burg seems to stock it.  Any ideas?

Be coolbeans!
The Led :-)

Its a launch game, so its kinda old now. Dont buy Tricky though, cause it sucks. SSX is ok, but its showing its age. Better then Shaun Palmer though.

Led, you said that you were enjoying the demo from SSX (i take it that you mean the first game).
Go and rent SSX Tricky and see if you like it. personally, i love it, but you may have different views.
I believe that you\'ll enjoy it so go rent, then you can\'t come back to me with a bag on lol

Were you frozen in time ? , anyway you will be able to pick up SSX for £19.99 on the first of March or you can go for SSX tricky.

Hey Heat!

Yep, you could say we\'re frozen in time down here in Africa.  If you\'ve looked in the papers recently you\'ll have (perhaps) noticed that we are in fact labelled as "A Developing Country" which is a nice way of saying we\'re in the 3rd world!

Tricky tries too hard to be cool/hip, and all the tracks are just adjusted rehashes of the first game.

Also, Pipedream in SSX was better then Pipedream in Tricky.

LMAO

you just lost all credibility in your ability to judge what a good game is

Tricky is awesome, and better then SSX since it is the iprved sequel

#RACER# you loved Gran Tuirismo 3 didn\'t you. Talk about rehashed tracks.  At least Tricky did a excellent job of changing those rehashed tracks some to make them fresh.

and I like the "Hip" angle SSX tricky shows off.  Uber tricks rule

Definitely go out and buy it you won\'t regret it at all

Yeah, dude, thats your opinion, and I gave mine. I don\'t like the hip side of it, the big hair, the weird accent.

If its your thing then cool, but it isnt mine. Don\'t jump down my throat simply because I don\'t like a game you like.

the tracks are not complete rehashes , which is your big complaint. What tracks malke re-appearacnces have significant face lifts to them.

and again you love GT3 which is a game with 90% of the tracks being rehashed

and your complaint about the "Big Hair" and "Hip" angle is just weird, but I guess coming from a Mariah Carey loving weasel like you it becomes easier to understand why you don\'t like cool looking characters and "HIP" things

but its the gameplay that makes SSX great and the gameplay as improved on with the added shortcutis and Uber tricks in SSX Tricky

therefore how could the game "Suck".

and I didn\'t jump down your throat, I pointed out the flaws in your opinion so this guy can make a better decision on wether to buy Tricky or not

Dude, its my opinion, so respect it. Sure, the game isnt crap, but I much prefered SSX over Tricky. Tricky (To me) seemed rushed, and more of a half game then a true sequal.

Tricky wasn\'t meant to be a "full sequel". IMO, a full sequel would have been better though.

Listen I\'ll repect your opinion when you give legitimate reasons for believing a game sucked

Gameplay is unefected by the "Hip " factor

and trck re-hashes should no bother you because you had little complint about this in GT3

Now if you would have said the game was not your cup of tea because you personally do not enjoy the "Hip" factor then I woudl\'ve shown you the "respect" you requested.

The fact you said the game, which was an improvement over the 1st in a few areas, sucked just gave me inspiration to counter

Jesus ddaryl, just \'cause he\'s messed up in the head doesn\'t mean you have to be a **** about it.  You totally insulted him for no reason.

Check your head Mod.

I never played the first one but bought Tricky and think its a damn fine game...... everyone I know who has got it has loved it and I havent seen any bad reviews either..... I reckon you would be very unlucky to find that you dont like it, or another way of putting it is that I think you\'d be in the minority

Dang I can\'t believe this argument can even be brought up. SSX Tricky is without a doubt, easily the best snowboarding game on the market. Characters actually interact and have personalities and don\'t get me started on Psymon\'s uber trick.... or I\'ll throw a penguin at you...

SSX Tricky is a bundle of fun.  I have never played the original SSX for comparison.  I don\'t usually go for these whacky non-mainstream type sports games either... so it has to be pretty good to keep my attention.

But GTA is still the jewel for my PS2.
I think I must be part psycho... In GTA for the heck of it I went up a tall building and started sniping pedestrians... and cops... and shooting rockets at helecoptors.

SSX the first one will soon be relaunched at a wallet friendly £20.

I think I must be the only person who didn\'t care for SSX. I bought it a few months ago and I have played it maybe a total of 15 minutes. Maybe I didn\'t give it enough of a chance.

I just recently bought SSX Tricky for my Gamecube (Finally!) and I\'m having a blast with it.  I had actually stopped playing games for a while, but now I\'m peeling the skin off my bruised Nintendo-thumb.  w000

It\'s a fun game.  There\'s a ton of stuff to get with any given character and those who are ambitious will find replay in doing that with all the other characters.

Anyway, it\'s pretty deep and it\'s damn fun.  Give it a try.

First off, Ddaryl, whoah.  Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed..  Although I think Racers opinion is a little odd he didn\'t need to be slaughtered.  Remember, this is the new and improved non-anal racer.

Since the original poster doesn\'t have either game and he liked the first one, I would suggest getting the second one.  It\'s a tweaked out version of the first with more tricks and stuff.  Unless money is an issue and then at half the cost I would just go with the original because it\'s not that much different.

But being in Africa your choices may be different than ours and you may not even get the 20 dollar deal.
