Title: Any way to get rid of the "Links" shortcut in the favorites menu?
Post by: soundifound on February 24, 2002, 07:28:43 PM
I\'m running win98.  Every time I delete it it just pops right back up the next time I reload my browser.  Any way to get rid of it for good?

I deleted it by going into Windows Explorer and deleting it from the actual folder. Make sure you also empty it from the Recycle Bin, then its gone for good.

However, being part of one of Microsoft\'s many evil schemes, it will come back with any explorer/windows updates you do.  So many irritating things like that in windows, eh?

Its actually a conveinient thing

every Url you place in Links will show up at the top you\'re IE in the tool bars

at least thats the way it works in Win 2000 pro

the conveince is you have a few links at a click instead of opening the favorites menu

but I agree it can be annoying in the way it refuses to go buh bye

or does it keep coming back - not sure if im sure exactly what you are trying to do

but like said if you take it off and update it might put it back

Simple solution.

Right-click on it, go to properties -> general, then click on Hidden.

It won\'t show again. If you delete it, it will come back each time you re-load IE.
