Title: Which body style is more desirable?
Post by: theomen on February 25, 2002, 01:15:37 AM
As some of you know I\'m an avid body builder, and right now I\'m at an intervale in my building, and need to know which body style you guys think(the ladies opinions would be very much welcomed)

right now I\'m in between Van Damme\'s size and say an Arnold Shwarzeneger size (though not as big).  Right now I could go either way, relitivly easily, and wanted to know which one I should go for?  In other words should I drop a little bit of muscle(say go down to a 17" bicep), and cut-in like a maniac, or put on even more mass, and have bulky muscles?

any input wold be great, especially from the women, and the sexy members.

well see the bad thing about body building is it becomes an addiction - my friend is one and he is certified personal trainer at 17 and all - he is at the same problem cept hes a short little ***** - hes 5\'6 and 185 pounds and wants to get over 200 - but he looks weird enough as he is

imo i chick digs ripped muscles then bulky - they appear more of fat when they are covered up -   my take would to be about where you are now and get yourself cut - so in other burn your fat down - which as im sure you know is oh so fun lol  - go buy some hydroxycut and make you life easier - you can get it at gnc

yeah tomarrow i\'m going to go buy some e/c/a stacks(ephedarin/caffiene/aspirin) either hydroxycut or ripper fuel.  I\'m in the same boat as your friend I\'m about 5\'8 and a shade under 200lbs, but since I\'ve gotten a little bigger I\'ve let myself go up to about 9%body fat, so my arms don\'t look ripped any more.   my biggest problem is that I hate cutting, but it seems as though i may have to do it anyway.

yea its a pain in the ass from what i understand - because once you get cut you gotta keep it up or else its all for nothing - but if its something you like then its all good

see someone like me who is small doesnt have to worry about cutting - since i already have little % of body fat  but i have to eat almost twice as you so i can gain weight and muscle - thats a lot of damn food but im working on it and ive started seeing results thankfully

Dude, you got any before and after pics of you? Like, the difference since you began body building??? Like, proportion wise?

I have been body building for about 3 years now. You could say I have a swimmers build.

I personally like the ripped looked. Bulky is ok, as long as there is minimal fat. Also, how tall are you? If you are short, then I wouldn\'t recommend going any bigger, or you will look stupid.

Do you take cretine? I use Maxes Iso Protein Formula.

Its 96% Isolate. Works like a charm.

But as I said, post pics, as I find it hard to believe your as big as Van Damn, considering your age.

If you wanna know my opinion...

I HATE guys with huge bulging muscles. Wouldn\'t look their way with my eyes closed.

I prefer guys with \'toned\' bodies. With a little muscle. Especially in the arms & chest. Too much is never good. But if I had to choose... I\'d even take a skinny guy with no muscle over a huge bulging monster.

One could say I\'m an avid body builder aswell, I try to build up as much fat as I can. Right now I\'m in a size between John Goodman and John Candy, but I need to know which type you guys and girls prefer.

:p

If I wasn\'t so lazy, I\'d prefer to be Bruce-Lee sized, (although I\'m a little too tall)

And, more often than not, I\'ve heard chicks say that muscleheads look disgusting. But I guess you gotta do something when you\'re a shorter dude. Anyway, Spending that much time obsessing over your own body sounds a little, um, weird....

actually it depends on preference really i mean most chicks like the slim but muscular look imo - look at model guys - they usually have nice ripped abs and some decent bi ceps and pecs - thats what girls like chest arms and stomach - those are what can make a big difference in a guy - so like i said i would concentrate on that portion and getting it ripped

also i think its weird to obsess with other people\'s bodys by looking at pics of celebs on the internet or in magazines and thinking how hot they are and then wacking off to it - heck when you wack you lose protien - do you might cut back on that too lol

Just one question theomen.  Why?  Not that im dissing on you or anything but I never understood where the appeal from bodybuilding stems from.  So your big...wow.  So you can pull a tree out of the ground...wow.  Is it a hobby just like video games?  Or is it just for the ladies?

well actually its both

and yea i know this wasnt directed to me but i have the answer regardless - look at it this way girls find it attractive - when girls find you attractive and talk to you and flirt with you it makes your self esteem skyrocket and makes you feel good about yourself

thats more or less what its about - you are doing it for yourself and girls digging it is a plus on the side - bodybuilding is more then lifting weights it take mind and body and a lot of patience - its not just sit there and bench something - theres so much more then that

but like people say when you look good you feel good - thats all the reason you need

he hit it on the nose, also for me it\'s great to know that when walking down the street, if need be I could rip apart 99% of normal people in a fight.  Though I don\'t go looking for fights, it\'s nice to have there.  In addition I\'ll be joining the police force within a year, and it\'s nice to be able to easily overpower the bad guy.

one more thing, if u lift weights u know what I\'m talking about.  After u have finished your routine, u get an endorphin rush, that really rivals that of any type of drug.  It\'s because when u cause your body pain, it will respond by releasing endorphins.  If u have never felt this, u probably aren\'t working out hard enough.

Cut would problly be the most preferred.  I\'ve been working out for years off and on now but never got into it seriously, like trying to become a body builder or neything like that.  Just do it for football and other sports, but I never really see any major results.  Guess I need to lay off the junk food.

u might be overtraining, u should try a HIT/push pull program, one day work the muscles that push(triceps chest) next day work the ones that pull(Biceps back) and only do one set instead of the normal 3, do a warm up, then do 1 set to complete failure with maximum weight.  this should give u some good results, and eat alot of protein atleast 100grams a day.

Thanks alot Theo. I know I should eat alot of protien but what protien suplements would u suggest.  Durring the summer I was using the powder, which u make into a shake ofcourse.  I hear that this liquid stuff u drop into ur mouth w/an eye dropper is good but thats creatine I believe.

Wow...you guys sound pretty huge...I\'ve been looking for the motivation to get into weight lifting, but I\'ve never really found it.

Arg...what got you into weight lifting, Theomen? Just wondering, I really want to get into it, but I dont\' know what\'s stopping me.

See Yuz.

Nothing works better than to have a partner to lift weights with that shares the same passion, ur not gonna push ur self to the limit unless u have someone right there to cheer u on or better yet get right in ur face and be an a*shole.  Thats the reasons coaches yell alot because it makes u push urself.

Yeah, my whey protein is 94% whey isolate, the most protein you can buy.

Its great.

I love seeing pics of how people have achieved things, like, seeing this full on skinnny dude fully pumped, or this fat chick whose lost all these pounds and put on some muscle, its great.

Hmm, maybe this calls for a picture thread.

Also, what kinda workouts do you recommend for your chest? I have fully toned out my arms and legs, its my chest I am concentrating on now.

For protein go for a whey protein(not soy protein, not soy becuase it could be bad for males, due to the hormones in it)  I would recommend Designer Protein, or Prolab protein.  Something that is over the 20g per serving mark, don\'t go paying for that stuff thats at 30g if it\'s too much.  As for that stuff that u squirt under your tongue, that is creatine.  It\'s pretty good stuff, because you don\'t have to go through a loading phase with it.

As for chest exercises, I would say the best combo, would be a decline/flat/incline bench would work out the upper, lower, and major part of the pecs.  You could also through in some barbell presses, and some flys.  But the major amount of muscle in the chest area is going to come from bench.  And when benching don\'t be affraid of pushing yourself, do a warm up and put on 5-10lbs more weight than you think you can bench.(make sure you have a spotter, or an escape route planned.)

And as for getting amped up for weight lifting, get a partner, and a goal.  The partner will help you once you\'re in the gym, and they\'ll help you push yourself further than you normally could.  And if you have a long term and short term goal set in front of you, it can do loads of help for you.
