Post by: Damien8086 on February 25, 2002, 02:09:32 PM
The thread about games for 14.99? Are they just copies of games or are they actual new games with real packaging and instructions? Does anyone know?

Piracy and copied games. We don\'t like it. We hate it and don\'t want that crap in our forums. I guess you didn\'t read teh Newbie FAQ did you?

wtf do you think?

what legit business is gonna sell games for FAR LESS than what they even pay wholesale for

we DO NOT condone piracy here like IGN does, and take it VERY seriously, which IGN does not

No I didnt read the "Newbie FAQ". How do you know the games are copied or pirated? Has anyone ordered from this site and gotten a game that wasnt properly packaged?

How about showing a little bit more respect? Who cares if I am new to this forum? I still have opinions and questions which relate to the topics of this forum. I take it since I dont have a lot of posts those opinions mean nothing. If that is the case than perhaps you need to reevaulate your way of thinking because it is severely twisted.

Why wouldnt they advertise here? Obviously this place is full of PS2 owners. They are selling PS2 games. Makes sense to me. I know if I had a business selling PS2 games than I would advertise to obvious PS2 owners.

we know what he was trying to do because he would be losing money for saling them that cheap unless he just burned the originals and sold those

anyway there is no tolerance on these boards for piracy or even the hint of it as we dont support the idea at all for gaming - we didnt say your opinions but when we said read the Noob FAQ - we said that because ot explains in there how we deal with Piracy threads

anyway im not gonna sit here and act like i did anything wrong but you need to calm down - its MM/Bjorns forum if they dont want to support piracy its their decision not yours

It\'s piracy, we don\'t like it. If you read the FAQ before this thread, you would have found out why. Sorry if I sounded a bit uh.....mean. I\'m usually not like that to anyone except PS2_girl (if you seriously want to find out why, PM me or something). This forum is all about opinions but one reason I was a bit onary is because the answer is in the FAQ and it seems that no one gives a rat\'s ass about it. Oh, welcome to the boards :D

When did I ever say I support piracy? I was just questioning whether anyone ever used that site and if so did they receive a copied game or did they receive a legitimate PS2 game in normal packaging. Of course one automatically assumes the games are copied, but who knows, maybe they arent. If you havent ordered from the site than you cant answer my question.

Also, I dont need to read a FAQ to know that software piracy is not commonly accepted amongst moderators of a public forum. However, no where on their site does it say anything about the games being copied nor did it say anything in that thread. Everyone assumes they are, but does anyone know for sure? The site shows pictures of properly packaged PS2 games. I\'m sure they probably are copied, but thats just an assumption. The whole point of this thread was to ask if anyone has ordered from the site and if so did they recieve a properly packaged PS2 game which showed no signs of having been copied.

i never said that you supported it i just stated that if they want to close the thread they can - thats what i was referring wasnt up to you

and about the guy again - its not logical and business like to sale a product so you can lose money - doesnt make sense to me - so how in the world do you make sense out of it - i mean its pretty clear if this guy was saling legit copies that low price - he would be one of the biggest retailers and everyone would buy from him - but its so obvious he isnt

all im saying is yes we dont know for sure - but we arent gonna leave his site open for people to find out if he is legit or not - and besides even if he were advertising them as legit - we arent here to be a free ad agency - we are here to be a forum where people get together to discuss games not sale them to a community

I\'m not complaining that the thread was closed. I dont care if it was closed. I just simply wanted to know as I have stated, if anyone had bought from that site and if so did their order indeed turn out to be a copied game or did it turn out to be a legit game. Maybe the seller got a load of legit games from some inside contact and needs to turn them over quickly. Who knows?

If you are so deperate for an answer and really really want to know if they are legit, then buy a game from them.  If they seem so cheap and the deal seems great to you, then go buy a whole ton of games, and tell us what happened.  You never know until you try.  Why bother asking a bunch of people "why" when you can find out for yourself?

Seems like someone is aiming to make some friends in this forum Damien...

Just let the m0ds do their job without question because they do it well.

Forums are a place of discussion... This isn\'t a giant billboard where people take advantage of and try to sell stuff...

Take that to Yahoo Auctions.

Why do you refuse to read the Newbie FAQ, Damien? You look for an answer, but you refuse to look in a logical place to get it. Just doesn\'t make any sense to me.

Problem is, you already got your answer, so, like Ryu said, get the games yourself. Even though all I\'m stating is what other people have stated in this thread, it\'s worth repeating, and it wouldn\'t be a bad idea to follow the advice.

In summary? Adversiting - bad. Piracy - bad. Not reading the Newbie FAQ - bad. Hope that helps kinda :)

See Yuz.

I am sorry. I didn\'t realize the FAQ stated whether or not that particular site was selling copied or legit games. Gee, how stupid of me.

And for all of the other posts above which question my common sense do you ever think that maybe, just maybe! someone could have come across a lot of games for real cheap and needs to quickly sell them off??? No, you just assume.

And for everyone who says, just buy from there and find out for yourself - I thought I would see if anyone else had bought from there first. Does that seem like such a bad idea?

I swear - you post a question here and every witty little gamer has an opinion on the question, yet no one has an answer(at least not until one poster said they had bought one and it was copied which answered my question and was all that I was looking for).

Oh well.

ok, lets theoretically say he has lots of retail games that he has to get rid of.

why sell them for 14.99?
he could sell then for twice that much and people would snatch them up like hotcakes

yer missing the point here

Because like I said maybe he was in a big hurry to get rid of them. Sure people would snatch them up at $30 each, but they would snatch them up even faster at $15.

Anyhow, I emailed the guy and it turns out like someone mentioned earlier that the games are copied and that you need a mod chip installed in your PS2 to play them.

Was a bit surprised that he admitted as much.
