Really nice...all this nice graphics come out so easy on the XBox,after only 3 months from launch...I want details about controls and game play...

How games will look like in the next 2,3 years ?
Look at the progress PS2 did from the beginning...

BizioEE,
I take it you limit it yourself to ps2 games released 3 months after launch
Edit:
And why does the car say Playstation on it?
-
why is BizioEE starting a debate for no reason??
on a side note: hmm.. game looks nice, very purty
Edit:
And why does the car say Playstation on it?
would sponser the car.. part of the agreement to license the cars would be that tha sponsers are promoted as well :)
-
no actually, the game is being released on the ps2 also
who knows if those are xbox or PS2 screens
or maybe even renders

BizioEE,

I was just praising PS2 for the progress it did from the beginning to current racing games...and I was excited because the beginning of the X is better than the "current of PS2"...only this...

I don\'t think it\'s a render...it\'s a XBox pic !
You poor Chrono fanboy
-
tsk tsk..
Square made that game from incomplete development libraries. Completely new hardware takes time to learn BizioEE. Xbox is made like a PC, developers should be able to get alot out of it from the beginning.
Here are the PS2 games that are out now/coming out soon.

Click here (http://www.geocities.com/fastson/gt3/) for my own GT3 pics. (cant post them cuz GeoCities sucks!)
Technology is the name of the game here, and Kenwright is more than confident about facing up to some considerable rally competition towards the end of this year. "It was a bit like a shakedown for the 2002 version," he said. "We know what worked and we know what didn\'t. Instead of sitting on one game for three or four years and getting it right, we\'ve had the luxury of learning from things that could be improved upon and making them a magnitude better. The overall technology, the rendering, the way it all looks and feels is going to be fairly revolutionary... It\'s up there with only a couple of games in the world that are really pushing the envelope on number of polygons per second on PlayStation 2. We\'re probably going to be drawing more polygons than an Xbox game can do."
Now when the new tools are out (PA2, VC ect) I think they can squeeze out alot more power in alot shorter time :)
Oh and dont forget MS likes to use Photoshop with their games. (Render a image at 1900x1200 and then downsize it to 640x480 and you get a picture perfect look..)
And BizioEE (or should I call you IceCrEaTuRe?), dont pretend you know anything about PS2.
quote from TeamXbox
Superdud,I have not enough knowledge about PS2 architecture to reply him...who here has enough knowledge?
-
I don\'t place much importance on screens of unreleased games for xbox, PS2, or NGC. It\'s just too hard to judge how they\'ll end up looking in motion on what ever TV you wind up playing it. The finished game can easily end up looking either much worse or better than screens.
Forecasting what the future holds using one console launch vs another is purely specious reasoning. On the surface a comparison may seem to hold up, dig a bit further and it will fall apart straight away. Believe what you want, just don\'t bet the farm on the outcome ;)
I\'ve heard a professional developer, who knows very well xbox is more powerful, point out xbox launch titles should clearly be considered second generation and the only PS2 title to date that even begins to take advantage of the architecture is Jak & Daxter.
-
is it still coming out for xbox just been over at codemasters website and everything to do with toca race driver has been removed
and the only games on the xbox release list are
colin mcrae 3
mike tyson boxing
prisioner of war
-
Hi fastson,you\'re right,I\'m IceCrEaTuRe,and I was pretty sure someone whould have understood:) ...
Xbox is made like a PC, developers should be able to get alot out of it from the beginning.
XBox is more friendly for developers, but it has a lot of untapped power too...I\'m doing some research...
It\'s quoted from a guy...
""Finally, the UMA has some awesome potential, especially as developers learn to share the space immediately to turn computation to graphic displays and other wonderful effects. Since it is a unified memory, it means that memory being used to hold video information can instantly be rerouted to another system for post processing or saving, etc. As developers learn to use the benefits of the UMA, you will see even niftier stuff appear only on the XBox."" (I\'ll wait and see, obviously)
...and I\'m still waiting some answers from Entroper and Gking(some of the coolest and unbiased member I\'ve ever known...and they know a lot!)
The Pics you showed me are nice...but not great...textures are low res...though I should see it in motion before judging...
Thanks for the GT3 pics...really nice...I just played GT3 an hour after lunch...
-
>"I don\'t think it\'s a render...it\'s a XBox pic !
You poor Chrono fanboy"
BizioEE,
What evidence do you have to support your claim?
One of the screenshots clearly says playstation on the car, thats a hell of alot more evidence then you have included in your argument.
So, are you going to answer my question? Why does it say Playstation on the car? Btw, do you like to pick and choose what things you debate on? Even though you very well started the debate..
Funny thing is, i\'ve yet to call you a fanboy, yet you say it to me every chance you get.. even though the questions I raised were not fanboy questions.. I think your insecure about your console..
Explain to me how I was a fanboy in this topic, beacuse you seem to think everything is a fanboy.
>"Oh and dont forget MS likes to use Photoshop with their games. (Render a image at 1900x1200 and then downsize it to 640x480 and you get a picture perfect look..) "
Lol, so true fastson, so true :p
-
Explain to me how I was a fanboy in this topic, beacuse you seem to think everything is a fanboy.
You\'re a fanboy because you act like a fanboy...and everyone knows that...and you even won the award "fanboy of the week" ;)
*I think your insecure about your console*
I\'ve still to get the XBox...I\'ve DC,PS2,etc...not a XBox...
...I\'m simply disgusted from the fanboysm of these forums...months and months ago these forums were a lot better, with more unbiased members...but now...err...they\'re boring...and now...the console debate...is turning in a XBoxBashingforums and mindlessPS2fanboys...and it\'s the reason why it\'s "dying"...
-
>"*I think your insecure about your console*"
Really?
what should I be insecure about?
i\'m not the one liking the console that failed to sell half of its initall shipment in japan which was half of a normal shipment in japan in the first place..
If the xbox fails in japan, say goodbye to lots of japaneese software, its as simple as that.
BTW, you ever going to answer the question..
 you just keep ignoring it..
I love selective reading :hat:
-
XBox is more friendly for developers, but it has a lot of untapped power too...I\'m doing some research...
It is because its based on a old well known architecture.
PS2 is NEW (well almost) and still pretty unknown.
The more you work with it, the better you get, its how it works!
...and I\'m still waiting some answers from Entroper and Gking(some of the coolest and unbiased member I\'ve ever known...and they know a lot!
PS2 still (beleive it or not) has more potential to be unlocked.
Developers get better each generation. (MGS2 was technically a 1st generation game, not bad Konami.)
GkinG did not seem so "unbiased" at arstechnica :)
And someone coming from TeamXbox cant be unbiased.. :)
-
*I think your insecure about your console*
-
One of the screenshots clearly says playstation on the car, thats a hell of alot more evidence then you have included in your argument.
The car has a PlayStation 2 logo because it\'s being sponsored by Sony (in real life). Just because it\'s a game for Xbox doesn\'t give the developers the rights to edit that logo away (and put a Microsoft logo there) - logo\'s add to the realism since the cars in-game match the cars in real life. That logo is included of a licence agreement that every developer has to sign when they wish to include real-life cars into their game.
Superdud,I have not enough knowledge about PS2 architecture to reply him...who here has enough knowledge?
Superdud?! Damn that was funny. Thank you BizioEE, really just proves how much bull**** you post. At least this proves to everyone that your last attempt to put the PS2\'s hardware to shame was just nothing but complete nonsense.
Screens are nice, although I\'d prefer real in-game footage (movies). I remember a certain game that was said to be a GT3 killer *cough* Project Gotham *cough* but didn\'t come close. Looking at Fast\'s GT3 screens just made me aware (once again) how beautiful this game looks. I have still got to see these kinds of reflections in one of the upcoming games.

I\'m not an expert developer and I don\'t have a super knowledge about PS2,so I\'m doing a research and I asked some programmers and they say you are right in one or two things while you\'re completely wrong in almost everything else...
You\'re the one who talks **** about the XBox UMA architecture...and knows nothing about the XBox...
I wanna ask skilled people(and I\'m asking) about it to kick your fanboysh ass definitively!

This might help people understand the Xbox more. Lots of great info. :D
http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1561&p=1
Understanding the Hardware – The X-CPU
As PC hardware enthusiasts you already understand quite a bit about the fundamentals of building a high-performance gaming console. You first understand that the concept of "bits" is much more of a marketing tool for videogame consoles than anything else. You\'ll find uneducated discussions all over the net about the Xbox\'s inferiority because it is only a "32-bit" console whereas even the N64 was a "64-bit" console. Remember that a 64-bit processor would give developers larger registers and greater memory addressability among other features, most of which are not useful for a gaming console at this time. An understanding of what those bits are in reference to is key to doing what we always like to do, separating the truth from the marketing.
The Xbox does indeed feature a 32-bit CPU; this CPU has actually been the topic of much controversy surrounding the Xbox. Not too long ago, Microsoft was looking for a CPU manufacturer to supply the Xbox with CPUs and of course the top runners were the CPU manufacturers that Microsoft was most friendly to: AMD and Intel. AMD was supposedly offering a K7 derived part while Intel had a Coppermine based solution. Supposedly as a surprise to everyone at AMD, Intel won the bid for the Xbox and was allowed to produce a derivative of the 0.18-micron Coppermine core for the console.
The CPU that powers the Xbox is a Coppermine based Pentium III with only 128KB L2 cache. While this would make many think that the processor is indeed a Celeron, one of the key performance factors of the Pentium III that is lost in the Celeron core was left intact for this core. The Coppermine core was left with an 8-way set associative L2 cache instead of the 4-way set associative cache of the Celeron. Based on what we\'ve seen with the Coppermine and Coppermine128 (Celeron) cores we estimate that the 8-way set associative L2 cache gives this particular core a 10% performance advantage over the Coppermine128 core of the Celeron.
The fact that Intel decided to go with a 128KB version of the Coppermine core indicates that there is a way of disabling half of the L2 cache without modifying the mapping associativity. We fully expect the Xbox\'s CPUs to be nothing more than Coppermine processors with half of their 256KB L2 cache disabled.
The other aspects of the CPU remain unchanged; the core does not have SSE2 support, only support for Intel\'s SSE instructions. It still has a 16KB L1 instruction cache and 16KB L1 data-cache and also very important is its 133MHz FSB. We\'ve proved time and time again about how critical a high-speed FSB is to overall system performance, and the situation is no different inside a gaming console.
The 0.18-micron CPU is contained within Intel\'s mobile FC-BGA package that is soldered directly onto the Xbox\'s motherboard. This not only prevents anyone from attempting to upgrade the CPU but it also reduces the space necessary for the CPU.
The CPU itself runs at 733MHz which would make you think that Microsoft could have done much better with a solution from AMD. However if AMD had supplied a 200MHz FSB processor with a L2 cache similar in size to the Duron, then the performance of an equivalently clocked solution from AMD wouldn\'t have outshined this Coppermine-derived processor too much. The other thing to take into consideration is heat and power supply requirements. In order for the Xbox to be taken seriously as a gaming console and not just a PC in a black case it would have to be no louder than a DVD player and put out no more heat than an A/V receiver. It is a widely known fact that the Coppermine core runs significantly cooler and with lower current requirements than the Athlon/Duron cores.
So although on the surface it seems as if Microsoft may have made the wrong decision with the Xbox\'s CPU (we even thought so at first), if you think about it, the decision isn\'t all that bad.

I\'m not an expert developer and I don\'t have a super knowledge about PS2,so I\'m doing a research and I asked some programmers and they say you are right in one or two things while you\'re completely wrong in almost everything else...
Yeah. I really do wonder what all those great programmers are doing at TeamXbox...
-
pstwo: I advice you not to take that article on the X-box\'s hardware too serious. Anand\'s Review isn\'t very credible. Just an advice before everyone thinks their an X-box hardware expert *cough* BizioEE *cough*

I dont know if you ever pointed out what was wrong about it?

Well I got some info from IGN.com.
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fxboxmedia.ign.com%2Fxbox%2Fimage%2Fsmallprod1.jpg&hash=e016355efee58a89906b4bcc32b86757ffa93dd1)
by IGN.com "This is how you know it\'s for the Xbox."
The Xbox is going to have quite a lineup of racing games by the time 2002 is over thanks to games like Pro Race Driver from Codemasters. It\'s still a basic racing game with high performance racing machines, but the level of immersion and detail that we\'re going to see in Pro Race Driver is unprecedented. In our first go-round with an early version of PRD, we were very impressed with how well this game draws you in one race after another.
It begins with the elaborate storyline that has your main character, Ryan McKane, looking to escape his father\'s shadow and make his own name in the racing world. You\'ll need money and lots of horsepower to do it, and winning races is the only way to get \'em. The front end of Pro Race Driver has you in the office/lounge at Ryan\'s home track where you can check his email, phone messages and other characters milling about to get important game information.
You don\'t just select a career mode and go, you have to respond to an email from a fella named Bobby Scott , your new crew chief, to get your racing career going. One of the twists in the story comes later when Bobby is incapacitated, and you\'ll have to tweak the brakes, engine and whatnot on your vehicle without Bobby\'s comments to guide you. This is just an example of how Codemasters has taken tried and true gameplay elements and re-purposed them within the framework of a storyline. We\'re used to adjusting suspension and tires from games like Gran Turismo, but we\'ve never been compelled to do it like this.
The racing circuits themselves should keep gamers plenty busy with 38 tracks to choose from. Using a tier-based system, players have to compete and earn enough points in one tier before they can move up to the second level where five all new circuits await. You need 130 points to make it to the next tier, so you\'ll need plenty of first place finishes --and the ten points that come with it-- to progress quickly. However, there will be a few twists thrown in along the way. The game\'s 20 AI drivers will react to your performance from race to race to keep the competition even. If you constantly finish first, they\'ll make adjustments so that you won\'t continue winning. If you\'re always dragging ass in 4th or 5th place, they\'ll help you out by driving even worse than you in the next race.
However, if you really are a championship driver, always finishing in the top 3 and the AI can\'t touch you, you\'ll get to face off against the Pro Race Driver of whatever circuit you happen to be on. This is the badass of the track so when you beat him you get his dollars and his ride. When you beat the three tiers of competition, you\'ll open up the Elite Championship series but only if you\'ve got $8 million in cash and a nice collection of Pro Race Driver vehicles to choose from. You can\'t race against the best in no Dodge Neon!
The part that Xbox owners will enjoy the most is the car damage system in Pro Race Driver. Fenders, hoods, trunks and doors take damage and break loose from the chassis in varying degrees of raggedness as you smash into walls and other drivers. Everything can eventually fly off the vehicle and this includes tires. When some critical part of the vehicle takes damage you\'ll start to notice your car\'s handling.
All of a sudden it\'ll seem a little "floatier" if you lost your rear stabilizer or it\'ll pull to one side if your suspension has taken damage. Pro Race Driver has three different damage settings that basically break down to None, Some and Total. With None, you can drive arcade style and not take a dent. With Some, you\'ll take damage but the CPU will always help you out by making sure you stay healthy enough to make it to the pits or your car will always land with four tires down. With Total damage, what you do is what you get. If you blow your engine, lose your tires or otherwise destroy your car, it\'s destroyed and that\'s that.
With Four Player Split screen racing, 20 vehicles to choose from and seven different kinds of weather, Pro Race Driver will show up on Xbox with plenty of beauty, some challenging races and some of the most engaging story elements we\'ve seen in a racer. It should be a nice compliment to uber-realistic racers like Rallisport Challenge or Moto GP

Bobs...you know what I mean...when you have a guy who posts a lot of tech things, hiding some of the PS2s bottlenecks and limitations and over-emphasizing ipotetical problems in the XBox,in a word...someone who talks "half true"...and call "biased" each tech article which some member posted weeks ago to show that most of his raving are faulty...you have no other solution that inviting him in a debate(and I did it) and see how much credibility he has or not has...
...if you come here,in forums where people understand nothing about hardware and you want to convince people(I\'d say...PS2 fanboys) that you\'re right...it\'s not so difficult...you talk crap...and than you say the article which other members show are biased...and PS2 fanboys are happy because they hear what they wanna hear dear Bob ;)
People at Team...is still waiting for him...
I made only 2 points...I\'m disappointed from PS2 and I think XBox has better potential...only this...it\'s how the "war" started!
...and about ND,they are really talented but if I were you I\'d choose an unbiased dev about the XBox argument...they talked a lot of crap about it...when they knew nothing about it...
-
/me was being a little silly :) in case you didnt tell.. but i understand your point :)
do you know Soul Reaver from TeamXBox forums? he mainly hangs around the chat, me and him are real good buds.. he\'s the only XBox fanboy who i really find can debate well..
-
Yes, Seven doesn\'t believe anything written about the xbox archetecture unless he, a Sony Rep or a Square dev wrote it. I\'ve had pages of quotes and articles that he all dismisses as biased or flawed.
You can\'t argue with Seven, he is PS2 through and through.
-
what\'s your exact point Watchdog? All I said is that the article from Anand is faulty and is not a credible and realible source. Debate this or leave it but don\'t start with other things. ;)

Bizio, you started spouting the tech crap about what PS2 couldn\'t do and why. Seven called you on it, slapped your wee wee and you ran off to teamxbox whimpering for help because you couldn\'t defend your own lame tech babble.

You also need to be reminded seven invited you over to the arstechnica forums to try out your act long before your copycat challeng for him to go over to teamxbox. Do you know why? It\'s because ignorant tech info about any console isn\'t tolerated for a second there. Not because for every guy there that knows their sh!t there are two dozen monkeys flinging poop, which would be more than likely the case over at teamxbox.

Oh, so you\'re talking to xbox devs to find out what PS2 can\'t do? What ever. Read the exchange again, seven\'s reference to xbox was only in reply to more of your misinformation vs PS2. "over-emphasizing ipotetical problems in the Xbox"? Umm... if you say so

I followed both you and seven quite well. Crap? You\'ve yet to prove it. Again, WTF?

There\'s no question of why should you cry. If there was a question, it would be more like why did you cry if it was only so much crap. Like a baby girl, I might add.

More Pro Race Driver impressions at Gamespot.
We check out Codemasters\' upcoming PlayStation 2 and Xbox racer.
Codemasters recently stopped by to give us a look at Pro Racer Driver, its upcoming racing title for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. We were able to check out an early build of the Xbox version that gave us a feel for the approach Codemasters is taking with it. The game will differ from conventional racers by incorporating a story element. You\'ll assume the role of Ryan McKane, who begins competing for top racing honors following his father\'s death during a race.
You\'ll work your way up through a variety of competitions, earning money and cars in your quest to be the best of the best. The story will be advanced by 17 cutscenes, as well as 20 additional scenes that will come up depending on how players are doing in the game.
While the story elements are an interesting addition, the heart of the game will obviously be its racing elements.
The game\'s graphics and physics engine are designed to offer a solid measure of realism thanks to impressive car deformation and handling. The final game will include 30 tracks and 40 cars, but only fraction of those tracks and cars were available our build of the game. The car handling was twitchy but manageable, and the car deformation was a welcome, albeit insane, addition to gameplay. The deformation also affected car handling, which was a blessing and a curse, as we tested out the game\'s physics by slamming into other cars and walls. Graphically, the game was solid and offered a good amount of detail with a high frame rate, which was encouraging given the game\'s early state.
Pro Race Driver is currently scheduled for release on the Xbox and PlayStation 2 later this year.

Die Chrono Die :)
I\'ll give PS2 another chance...and you(in general...otherwise the retard Chrono think I\'m referring to him) PS2 Hot fans show me interesting projects coming out instead of talking BS :)
I\'ll try to visit the Main a little more...

I got an idea Chrono
why don\'t you stop making an ass out of yourself with your unbelievable bias hate for Xbox and your need to constantly share it
and if any of you are interested Gamespot has Xbox screens and PS2 screens and you can\'t tell the difference very easily
