make some new buttons for the forums and if we picks yers, i\'ll send you a FREE PS2 game [and not one that = teh suk!1!!!!] plus youll get full credit, and you\'ll get a user text stating that you were the designer

****Bjorn upped the ante, the winner will receive a free PS2 game from him also. WOW! :eek: Thats two free PS2 games to the winner!

post yer buttons in this thread, if u dont have a host, attach them to yer post, OR email them to me [mm@psx2central.com] and i\'ll host them on our server

try to keep alot of the chatter in the other thread as we can just showcase the buttons in this thread, or just ask general font and color questions

you can also edit yer post as much as you like if u edit yer buttons

we would like to change ALL the buttons, not just the "reply" and "new thread" buttons

there isnt a set time limit, but lets say roughly a month

at lastly, have fun and please dont criticize others artwork
remember, the most flashiest isnt going to win necesarily
im a fan of "less is more"

were looking for practicality AND beauty, plus the buttons have to look cool with the dark background

its the one called jh_titles the fonts r not exactly the same but it comes close

Eh... the text on the small buttons (Profile, User CP) is a little blurry, but I\'ll gladly enhance it if you decide you want to use them.

I guess that\'s all. I might try to improve the design a little later if I see something that really needs changed.

The big buttons in this one already have a look but I\'m still trying to make the smaller ones look equally good.
And the first set, I have still to fix some blurring issues and the smaller buttons will end up looking a whole lot better than the ones mm posted.

I worked really hard on this, and it isn\'t finished yet. I still have to do the minature buttons like buddy list, profile etc...

Also, I chose the bright blue because this site is too damn dark, and the top of the PS2 logo is this exact same colour.

Let me know what you guys think. Also, if we used the font I used for member names, it doesnt show underscores (_).

If this needs changing, maybe someone could edit the font to make it do underscores.

Post by: nO-One on March 01, 2002, 06:44:31 AM: I\'m still trying to keep the current color scheme as, both since I\'m very used to it, and the fact that it is a very good one, it\'s easy on the eyes while the colors are still very well defined.

And I\'d like some comments about my schemes, I\'d like to know if you guys like the buttons so I can continue improving them and focusing my efforts on my first batch, or if you don\'t really like it so that I could go do something completly different.

I is teh sukc!!!1 Best I could think of at the moment, I thought it\'d kinda go well with the new logo (just noticed the colors are a bit off, but maybe it\'s better if they\'re not that dark). I still had to go with Arial as the font, since nothing else really seemed to fit the buttons... I could try out the PS font... I also designed new "logos" for the "post" and "new thread" buttons, to give the design an even fresher feel. They still need some working on, though.

Gimme some feedback so I know if I should just drop dead :p

Edit : I tried the PS font now too, looks pretty nice methinks.

Just a rough set of buttons I made a few minutes ago. Nothing too extravagent... I\'m just posting them to show everyone an idea of where I\'m taking a new design. If it\'s good, I\'ll enhance the images (improving the text placement, matte, etc.), otherwise I\'ll try something else.

Can somone tell me if I\'m going in the right direction? Or should I try another design? I\'ve got a few more ideas left, but I don\'t imagine them being too great right now.

Here is what my buttons look like on the bottom of a page. The table background was changed to 555555, and the table border was changed to 616161.

I still haven\'t done a lot of the buttons (as you can see), but from what I do have, what do you think? Does the text need to be more defined? Are the buttons too light? (my monitor is a little dark, which makes making these buttons look good on your monitors a little harder. :))

I have changed the registered/location/posts font, and I have also created the edit/quote buttons. I have changed the colours aswell, and its darker. I have also changed the blue lines featured throught the background (line, the dividers).

I hope you like it. I will make everything look really professional if it gets the go ahead.

Could there? Mods? Please answer? Because if so, I discarded my kewl plan for nothing, boohoo... :)

So here\'s a little more of my stuff... I made an example page from a random screen grab. I just went wild and replaced even the big title at the top, just couldn\'t help it... :) I was supposed to do new little pics for all the appropriate buttons, but just fooled around with a few (see if you can spot them).

It\'s 1024×786, so use that rez and you\'ll see it like it\'s... real! Wow! Awesome! :rolleyes:

Somebody, c\'mon, does anyone like this? Hate it? Anyone? No-one? :p

Just a bit of advice from one artist to another.

Once these buttons have been resized to the correct size, that font is going to be really hard to see/read. That is why you should always create something like buttons the size you are going to use them.

Also, maybe put a black line around the text, only cause it will make the text more defined and easier to read.

And as I said before I like my first set of new thread/reply buttons with the cut corners the most, simple and elegant.
Anyhoo, I like your buttons alot especially the smaller set of buttons, but I think you should have the lower new thread/reply buttons to the far right aswell, keeping the line like you did looks cool, but it might be harder to implement on a web page as they might not be aligned for everyone.

Racer, I save everything as .psd files, so all layers will be resized independently (spelling?), I\'ll reduce the glow on the text and make the text smaller, so it shouldn\'t be any harder to read.
I just like working with bigger images rather than small ones, and I just made this .jpg file to show a little preview.

One thing I really wish is can we make the main Playstation Central logo smaller? It\'s so big that you hardly see even any threads on the screen without paging down. The reply box isn\'t even on the screen without paging down.

Just squash the thing down a bit...

You can pretty much ignore the smaller buttons on that page, look fugly and out of place, I\'m currently redesigning them.

Yeah, that\'s what I was thinking. More like that.

With that big ass advertisement plus the big ass logo, that\'s about all I fit on my 1024X728 screen. I think I only see 4 threads.

But that\'s just one set, I\'m working on a bunch of\'em.
The first has the cut corners, the 2nd has the circlem so far I\'ve only posted two of them.

and i did the go buttons and down arrow along with the three at the bottom - like the subscribe and printer friendly and so on

other then that i havent done everything i wanted - still have to do the on/off button and also i was gonna do the stars and change em to something

Real simple, but I decided it might be beneficial to try out a simple design for once. Anyone think the text is too dark? If so, I\'ll brighten it up (seems a little dark on my monitor).
