Have y\'all heard abput Digipen? It\'s a college in Washington, and one in Canada somewhere. They have degrees in 3d animation and Real time interactive simulation (a.k.a. video games). I\'m thinking about going there after I graduate from UGA. I heard that there might be a RTIS degree available in Orlando, can anyone confirm?

I have one of their brochures. Although I am only in high school, I\'m looking at it. I\'ve heard it\'s a very tough school, not only to get into but to maintain good grades and a social life. Basically, you\'ll have no social life. One of the IGN members (digipen) is currently attending there. He also said that everyone is big on D&D :p

i planned on going there when i moved to seattle in 98
it was actually one of my reasons for moving there
once i got all the literature and found out the price and attendance regulations, i skipped it
plus its funded by nintendo :(
the final project at the time was actually creating a SNES game from scratch

Now I think they work on N64 stuff, too.
What I read that\'s pretty neat is those kids have to sign NDAs. Nintendo won\'t let them bring the games they made home, for instance, because they don\'t want the "classified" system info possibly reaching the public.
They don\'t want people seeing how the SNES or N64 work. :rolleyes:
But yeah, I thought about that school before I decided I\'d have more fun writing about games than coding them. It\'s an intriguing concept for a school, though, and most of the graduates quickly find jobs in the field.
There are other schools with similar courses, too...

the school seems obsolete now
developers hire specific departments now [texturers, 3d modelers, music, level design, animators, scriptors, artists]. these people might not even work in the same building, or even meet each other
u have to specialize
oh, and learning c++ helps
