Ok yesterday I bought the game Max Payne for my Ps2 I heard it had been a real good game. I was In Blockbuster and I bought it used for about $30.00 Have you ever seen how used games have that plastic cover on them? Well anyway I managed to rip off the plastic cover off the top of the game. After I did that i noticed the game was sticky from the stupid cover. I rinsed the game off with a damp cloth and water and got it un sticky. When I went to play it the title screen went on and then the game just went black... and it keeps doing this. Is it because I ruined the damn game rinseing it off or because the game has defects?? I think i should have left the game alone this pisses me off grrr. I don\'t think I can get my money back on either cause i broke the seal on it so i\'m thinking about going to a game store and tradeing it in for something else. What would you do if you were me besides think your a total moron????......

Well if you soked this disc that might be why, you can put a tiny bit of water on it and whipe it with a lint free clouth and that would be ok,, but it sounds like you gave it a bath.
-
Well, you can get an exchange on games these days, not refunds but exchanges, especially if you say it wasn\'t working when you took it out. It\'s that simple.
I think even blockbuster \'guarantees\' working condition used games. I would think they can\'t legally or knowingly sell a non-working title.

Just say it didn\'t have the plastic protection when you took it home. I mean, they can\'t call you a liar, thats just wrong, so they have to help you out.
Customer is always right.

Unless you\'re at blockbuster. Then everyone\'s wrong.

yup, just try to take it back and say it didn\'t work.

i get those stickers [disk shields] off with lighter fluid
lighter fluid WILL NOT damage the disk
i use it to clean the playing side also
i just wanna know why didnt you just leave the disk shield on?
they WILL, i mean they SHOULD [by company policy] gladly exchange it for you, UNLESS you dont have the receipt
-
have you tried to clean the disc with a little alcohol? when you rinsed it off, you might have hard water stains on the playing side. also use a lint free cloth to dry.

Seriously, you really think water will damage discs? heh
I\'ve rinsed lots of cds with water and detergent and not one has been ruined. So the disc he got probably was defect when he bought it.

yeah water doesnt damage cd, does it??????? i dont understand how you could of broke it, but i would just tell them you opened it, tried to play and it aint working!!!!
also get another game as max payne on ps2 aint that good, better on pc

How in the world would water have anything to do with it? It\'s a piece of plastic. It\'s not like CD\'s are made out of cloth.
Take that sucker back. You did nothing wrong.
-
actually, if you werent careful when pulling that disk shield off, you WILL damage the foil layer of the disk
clean ALL the residue off the label side and exchange it
-
Or you could just win the button contest and MM will send you a new game!!!
-
bjorn also, the prize is two games!
-
Well i did return it yesterday and the guy there said i could exchange it for the same game so i bought Max Payne again this time i\'m leaving that damn cover alone haha. Thanks for your guys advice though. The game is sweet by the way i love bursting through doors and gunning down the bad guys kinda reminds me of the movie Matrix.

I use mm\'s method, lighter fluid and very fine cloth.
Works like a charm!:p

You could damage a CD with Water... Though you\'d have to be trying to do so; If the water was warm enough you could warp the CD; It doesn\'t take much...
