Title: Gitaroo Man Review
Post by: Troglodyte on March 03, 2002, 10:03:40 PM
So I went and bought Gitaroo Man. . . you know, that "Parappa"-type game.  Mainly because it has a 4 player mode, and I don\'t have many games w/ 4 players.

The story is directly comparable to Parappa\'s.  Good or Bad, depending on how you look at it.

The music is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!  Great original stuff, spanning many music genres.  ANd the button-mashing works perfect in manipulating the song.

The Versus mode is awesome!  Especially 4 player, me a three friends spent countless hours playing!

Single mode SUX!  I made it past the first two levels. . . the third is TOO FREAKIN\' HARD!  Good thing I bought that Shark Port!  I downloaded a save file and uploaded it to my memory card.  Level 4 was a piece of cake compared to three, and only the last level I find to be just as hard as the 3rd.

Aside from the 3rd level being too hard, the game is great, especially for multi-player action.  Probably not worth the $50 price tag.

If you\'re a fan of the original Parappa, then this is for you.

That\'s my review. . . and I\'m stickin\' to it.

I loved Um Jammer Lammy (still do), so I\'ll probably like this too. I\'ve seen some vids and the music sounds great and the gameplay looks sweet, combining d-pad movements to the button bashing.

Too bad I\'m all outta dough... waitaminute! I\'m at work right now! I\'m making money, whoohoo! *back to work*

Not D-Pad, analog stick.

Well... in the vid I saw, only horizontal and diagonal movements were required, so I thought it could be played with a d-pad also (so now I presume it can\'t)... I knew it could be played with analog sticks, of course. I was working at the same so my brain was half-absent when writing the reply :p

Review Update!

Well, I\'ve beaten all the levels now.  Although I still haven\'t beaten the first level in "Master Mode."  This game absolutely rocks.

How many levels were there???

My wife LOVES these types of games, but she blows through them way too fast to buy them.  She beat Parrapa 2 the same night we rented it.  I guess I\'m going to have to rent this one for her.

How long did it take you???

Well, probably 6 or so hours of play, granted I wasn\'t set on playing all the levels, I could have done it faster.  The repleay value is excellent.  Especially when you get good, and don\'t mess up, the songs sound great, and you want to hear them again and again.  I haven\'t beat a single level in Master mode yet, must. . . play. . . more!

I can\'t say enough good things about this game.  Definately a party game, only takes about 30 min. to get good enough for a good volley in 4-player competition, so new peeps can have fun right at the start.

I love Parappa, but I love Gitaroo 10 fold!
