Title: I remember just before the launch of the Dreamcast....
Post by: GmanJoe on March 04, 2002, 06:02:19 AM
....I was kidding around with some people at another forum about the PS2\'s capabilities. I said "You think DC\'s 3 million pps is high? Well, I heard that the PS2 will have 16 million pps!"

Hehehehe! Boy...and I thought I was exagerating! BWAH!

Little did I know....

well, Dreamcast made it up to just over 5 million polygons/sec, which is pretty impressive (I think Ferrari 355 did this) and so will PS2. It\'s all up to the developers. ;)

Test Drive Le Mans supposedly pushed a little over 6 million...

I saw some pretty impressive games for the DC. I still play SoulCaliber and Sega GT at times. I will probably take up Skies of Arcadia again in a month or two. It was a good system for the short lived time it was on the market.

SoulCalibur, Shenmue 1 & 2, F355 Challenge, Resident Evil Code Veronica....... I still like my DC better then the PS2 actually.

Project86,  why don\'t you just wait for the PS2 version of Skies?  It\'s due in August I think...

There are bound to be enhancements...hopefully besides graphically.  Wouldn\'t it be the **** if they some how worked in the rumored black moon stone?

That and I hope they tweak up the battle system...it was good, but there is room for improvement.

You got a good point Rikku, but if the reviews come back and say that there were no improvements made to the game then it probably won\'t see my list of games to buy.;)

Dude, the PS2 is technically capable of doing 20 million WITH all effects (75 million without).

GT3 pushed 7 million (it used around 35% of the PS2 hardware).

I read this in an interview somewhere, I will try to find it.

no need to Racer. :) What I ment was that PS2 will improve aswell (over its theoretical maximum), i.e. over 20 million Pps. It\'s all up to the developers. Jak & Daxter I think pushes just over 13 million Pps I think.

VU1 (Vector-Unit 1) is able to do 66 million pps when devoted specifically to perspective-transformation processing btw. 75 million Pps is the number at which the GS can render them under normal conditions.

What the developers do with this though is entirely up to them.
