Yep, thats the size of the apartment.   That looks small to me, but I guess its just because its hard to tell with the virtual tour of it. Anyways, should I get this one?

Here is more  about it.

http://www.apartments.com/search/oasis.dll?page=AVsummary&property=116099.1.0&resultpos=1&QSearchType=1&minrent=0&maxrent=550&allsizes=1&allbaths=1&month=0&status=4&state=CA&city=LANCASTER&prvpg=8&srt1=0.30&srt2=0.73&srt3=0.42

Theres another one im looking at thats 525 a month, and it has more living space. Link provided.

Ahh choices, choices.......What should  I get? the one with bigger living space and cheaper cost? Or the other one?

Oh, please Im just asking what you guys think of these, and what I should do with my choices.  :)

The best thing I ever did was i bought a washer and dryer.  There is nothing worse than having to go to the laundromat.  Yuck.  Chicks like that gal in the doritos commercial do not hang out in laundromats so don\'t tell me you can pick up chicks there.

As far as the apartment goes, does it have walls?  Is it cheap??  Those were my two qualifications on my first.

if there\'s a lock on the door, the heat works, and the rent is cheap

i\'d move in
no questions asked

Looks acceptable. But what is it costing you per month? My first place was a two bedroom townhouse with a walkout basement. I got the place for 600 bucks a month. You couldn\'t beat that where I live.

Well that one bedroom apartment will be about 550 a month, maybe 600, but thats cheap for something thats located in Cali and not in the "ghetto" I have not gotten the place yet, and I don\'t plan on it until at least june/july.

That does sound like a good price for Cali. I happen to live in the eastern part of the states where the cost of living os not so high.;)

I had a one bedroom a few years ago before I got married.  It was 620, but I had a balcony overlooking the bay.  My SQ footage I think was a little over 700, so it also was tiny.

If you can afford it, the best advice I can give anyone is;

Buy a house!

It sucks to find out how much money you\'ve thrown out the window in an apartment.

And don\'t say you can\'t afford it until you\'ve spoken with a real-estate agent. The possibilities are wide open. It\'s easier to buy a house than what most people think.
;) :D

So I should get a house when I get out there?

Sheesh, maybe thats a good idea.

Just do yourself a favor and speak to an agent first. It\'s not that much more expensive and the fact that every dollar your spending per month goes back in your pocket when you sell the house later is great! Buying a house is an investment.

I would not advise buying a house right when you move to a completely new area.   You really don\'t know enough about the area to make sure you are buying in a rising community.  My house is worth 140% more than when I bought it and that was only 4 years ago.  That is because I figured out where I could profit.  Now I will take that extra money and buy my next house.  On and On.

I will say that is good advice as well Video, but if he finds a good agent (and there are ones out there), he could find some of the money making areas that way. My agent led me to a great location and in the past two years my house has increased in value @37%. Not the earnings that your looking at, but darn good for my location.

So basically Video hit it right on the nail....Wait a few years before I ponder the House Idea?

I guess I\'ll go with the apartment then.

thats the boat I am in..  I was just closing on a house when I got laid off.  Now they want me to go work down in Philly, houses are a hellva lot cheaper down there then they are up in Boston..

But I am going to move down there first, live there for a year before I decide to buy a place.  Hey I might not like, so gotta play your cards right..  Plus I don\'t know the area at all, so it would be really hard to buy a house down there from up here.

Just be carefull and make your decisions with some thought...

Phone?  Well if you live by yourself and you get a cell plane with a billion minutes you don\'t need a phone.

Electricity, well I guess you need that so you can still get on PS2 Central.

Ohh, you need a phone line for that too unless you get cable modem.

Water!!!  That\'s a must.  Cause you be stinky without it.

So Water and electric that\'s about it.

You don\'t have to have cable or phone, but it\'s hard to impress the chicks with rabbit ears on your tv.

Oh yeah, get a maid!!  They are great.  For about 40 bucks a month in a little apartment like that you can always look like a clean freak.  Chicks dig that.

You can buy a cheap electric heater if you want, but sometimes people think gas is a nice thing to have... especially for a water heater.  You\'ll also need to pay for garbage, but nowadays that\'s usually included with your water bill.  It all depends.  Here in california, just dont live in the bay area.  Live outside of it and commute here instead.  To put things in perspective, a one story 2 bedroom 1 bathroom decent sized living room and a fair size kitchen, house in San Francisco goes for about 400,000, but you can get that same thing, but 5 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, living room, big ass kitchen spread out over 2 floors with a 2 car garage and back yard, etc etc, for like 300,000 in Sacramento (2 hours away from SF)... it really all depends.  Choose wisely is all I\'m going to say.

I\'d recommend that you go with a small super cheap apartment first (make sure you have great credit) and work at a job for about 6 months and work your ass off and show them that you really are a great worker (job security = best thing for you nowadays) and then go ahead and go for that house.
