EGM reports that Rockstarr games was purchased by Sony and they have canceled GTA3 for PC and Xbox. We have not been able to verify the source, but ToTheGame reports that the game will still be out on the 30th of April.

A PC version would have been nice.. (Though I would not buy it cuz I have completed the PS2 version)
If its true.. GTA Miami, GTA4 aso. is PS2 exclusive games.
I think Sony should allow a PC version though.
When were these news posted?
-
it was posted yesterday i think its bs but if it turns out to be true thats excellent for sony
-
NO! not excellent!
i want my PC version
WAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :crying:
-
Suck it down! Adjust your eyes for 30fps!!
;)

mm,
just enjoy the PS2 version, and laugh at others just waiting for their version.

This news appears to be BS. Then again, who would\'ve thought that the Resident Evil would be a Nintendo exclusive last year, or even Square coming to the GC/GBA?
However, even if Sony did buy Rockstar (which begs to question, why Rockstar and not Take 2 [the company that owns Rockstar]?), why cancel the PC version? I mean, the Xbox version I can see being canceled since it is a bigger threat to the PS2, but not the PC version (which many "exclusive" PS2 games have appeared on).

I would quite like such an ace game as GTA 3 to be a PS2 exclusive. I don\'t think it is however as when Rockstar said that GTA Miami was just a rumour they also stated that their lineup for the fall was a new Midnight Club Street Racing game, a new GTA game and GTA3 PC plus some others. So it just depends how new that news is I guess.

Hmmmm, wonder where the posts of "Sony Money Hats" are...
Maybe "Money Hats" is exclusive to MS...
-
At GC.com or whatedver that nintendo site is.....it said GTA3 was also coming to GC. But i doubt that,......

mm = one spoiled byatch :D
Just cause you got the latest and greatest doesn\'t mean a thing on that P4 1.5! My Athlon 1.5 will smoke yours!

>"Maybe "Money Hats" is exclusive to MS..."
Yes it is :)
I prefer to call this a pay-off
beacuse its out in the open.. unlike most of MS\'s stuff which is obviously designed to make it look like the company likes the console
-
What???
Since when does a company work for another because they like each other? Its all about the Benjamins.
-
>"Since when does a company work for another because they like each other? Its all about the Benjamins."
Well, its like this
it was obviously not worthwhile for Tecmo to release DOA3 on the xbox exclusivly and then Tecmo people bash the ps2...
they would have sold many more units on the ps2
They said there was less competition on the xbox, but what fighters were released last fall?
but, the pay-off thats happening is happening behind the scenes.. thats why I call it a money-hat.
ohh.. see Oddworld for another definiton of money hat...
Halo was a not a money hat.. but they bought the corporation
I don\'t like it but, ohh well..

I think one of the few examples of a company that is doing something because they like working with each other, is Capcom and Sega, and later, Capcom and Nintendo. Capcom could\'ve made a ton of money with sticking with Sony with many of its games. Instead, they went to Sega and supported the DC until it died. With Nintendo, Capcom gave them Resident Evil as an exclusive, and if the interviews with the RE guy is correct, without Nintendo giving the "money hat" to them. Now, is this true or not, not sure since I\'m not Capcom or Nintendo.
So far, most of the Xbox "exclusives" appear to be exclusives thanks to the "money hat". They bought Bungie even though Bungie appeared to be console agostic before (Halo was a PC/Mac game and even a PS2 version was in consideration before MS bought them). And Oddworld, before the Xbox, they were litterally saying great things about the PS2, and then MS comes in, PS2 is a piece of crap and the Xbox version is now the only version (while the PS2 hating began a little before MS paid them, once they were paid, Oddworld became one of the biggest Xbox supporters in the world).
Now, I\'m not saying Sony is anymore innocent since yes, even Sony buys developers. However, at least in the case of Naughty Dog, they were Sony "fanboys" before becoming a first party developer in the first place (not to mention, I even believe that they came to Sony. Not the other way around).
-
Okay, yes, there are a select few companies that work with another because they like each other.
Capcom/Sega
I can\'t quite remember but back before the DC launch, didn\'t Capcom say something about being unhappy with Sony, which is why they shifted so much support to DC?
I know during the PS1 vs Saturn war, Capcom was unhappy with Sony because of their strict "No 2-D" policy and we know Capcom are the gods of 2-D.

GTA3 isn\'t coming to the Game Cube. That was only a rumor. IGN contacted Rockstar about it and they said that there were no plans on porting it to the Game Cube.
True, they all buy developers. Nintendo does it, Microsoft does it and Sony does it. I can\'t remember any cases of Sega doing that though, but they might have. Either way it doesn\'t matter as they aren\'t in the console bussiness. What I find funny is how people will say how deplorable it is that (put name of company here) tries to win by buying developers while the company that they hail as being the greatest thing in the world does it too. I\'ve heard it from fan boys of all kinds.

So true, Trake M...
