Is the xbox doomed in japan even eariler then I expected?
Acording to Dengeki, the xbox only sold 9,635 units in its 3rd week... I had estimated 20k for week 3. I don\'t think the NGC ever dropped below 10k, which IMO is the threshold number of doom.
That makes weekly sales
123k - week 1
30k - week 2
9.6k - week3
and this current rate, it could take many months before they break a half a million
Total sales: 162k

Here\'s one figure, from our town (pop. 35 000) : 6 XBoxes sold, 2 more waiting for someone to pick \'em up :p

Not yet. Hell no. I\'m getting mo\' money soon... we\'ll see... if the S-controller is released here I might give it more thought, cause the original one SUCKS, ecch, bloody oversized vibrator. The button layout is easily one of the worst ever. Oh yeah, and more interesting games wouldn\'t hurt even if MS wants to see me purchase one :p
I\'m gonna find out how many were sold in the initial "rush" *cough* here last night. I\'ve heard there were truckloads shipped to stores last midnight in Helsinki (our capital), for the most eager gamers to score theirs. The coverage on the magazines has been quite weak so far, with some large stores advertising the box with small ads (that are easily lost into the plethora of VCRs, DVDs and washing machines pictured). Some tabloids and newspapers are even doing special coverage now, taking insights into the gaming world (focusing on the *Box) and stuff... meaning that I\'ll be pissed off once again by authors who don\'t know ANYTHING about what they\'re babblin\' about, bah :p

haha yeah its the same i holland, and we have these really dumb commercials on TV about xbox showing nothing but its logo, doesn\'t even say when it will be released.
Gosh i wonder why no-one knew about its launch today :rolleyes:
hopefully they will pick up soon, if it wasn\'t for the GC delay xbox was dead before launch

Microsoft only shipped 300,000 consoles in their initial shipment, and it looks like it might take a while before the stores need to reorder. ;)

Why do you all seem to enjoy the fact that the XBox is off to a slow start? I think some of you need to stop sucking on Sony\'s nutsacks and realize that more game systems means more and better games for us. If XBox and GC fail then it will only hurt us as gamers.

No its not just that its a SLOW start .... its that the PS2 is still selling at a Phenomenal rate.
the Gap between Sony and Microsoft is Growing day by day and this and the European launch is not helping close this any !
alos its good to say to any X box Zelots out there

i think it should be Close to 35 million by now !

its got Nintendo first party, Capcom, and Squaresoft curtosy of sony.

Actually, they said they SOLD 28 million, they should surpass their expectations for june

Of course the gap is going to be big between Sony and MS because MS just entered this market. MS has already said that they expect to lose a lot of money in the first 2-3 years after the XBox\'s launch so they are obviously in for the long haul no matter what the numbers suggest.

so in 2 to 3 years time the X box could hope to be around the same point were the PS2 is TODAY !

basiclly the PS2 is Out selling the X box despite the verious Launch days through out the world and its still going stong !

I am sure all of this has been expected by MS. Playstation already has a good reputation in the console market. MS is still trying to get a good reputation in the console market. There are so many threads about how poorly the XBox is selling in various markets as if many of you get some kind of personal satisfaction from Microsofts troubles. I dont get it.

Most of us European gamers feal betrayed by M$ for their 51% Launch price Hike (European X box cost 51% more than the US ones !)I would buy a import one but it will cost me even more :(
and the fact that we are to a large extent ignored by M$ in the Game Strategy !
