Looks very nice.. To bad the backgrounds are prerendered..
I wonder if GC could handle the polygon character in a 3D environment. Look at Appeals Outcast 2 for PS2 :)
Anyways, here is a interesting quote from Mr. Capcom (Okamoto) himself.
As for the circumstances which biotechnology performed to GC, that the memory of PS2 was lacking results. It was serious to have developed by such PS2 in Capcom of those days. But compression technology became good now. I want to return to PS2. OTONA which is not made even if he wants to repent is also De Dis" very much.
Its been babblefished so thats why the English is at a Bizio level :fro: ;)

fastson where did you get that quote from.

where DID you get that comment.. thats VERY interesting :)

It\'s an interesting quote.. and also 2+ months old. ;)
I might as well dig up that "if GCN sales don\'t go up, RE is going multi-platform" quote. And that\'s one opinion, anyway.. not even a major one either. True be told, Mikami-san called up Miyamoto at home.. told him that he wanted to put Resident Evil on GameCube.. and asked if the game would be too violent for Nintendo\'s demographic.
Miyamoto\'s response was something along the lines of this: (roughly translated) "We don\'t care if you put in a scene where Chris bends Jill over and gives it to her in the ass, just make sure to slap the correct ESRB rating on it" .. and here we are today!
Sure, Capcom could have given PS2 the new RE games.. but they have to be platform agnostic.
As for RE1.. I have it pre-ordered right now. No need to take any risks, right?

I didnt save the address but here is what the whole thing said
Industry || Mr. Capcom Okamoto "I want to return to PS2"
Seemingly there was an opportunity for Mr. Okamoto to speak in South Korea, and the contents are indicated.

He is obviously talking about texture compression.
Or its a cover-up cuz the are loosing hope in the GC and its disappointing sales.
However the Remake was just released in Japan so we will see how it goes.
Blade: Nah not that old.. :)
Btw, Okamoto is the head of Capcom R&D if I remember correctly.
What he says goes, sort of.
I hope Capcom can do something interesting with RE Online for PS2. And we will see if they announce some new stuff at E3.

You talk like pre-rendered graphics are a bad thing. They\'re not, if used properly which BioHazard/Resident Evil has always done and brings to the next level in this remake. Infact, pre-rendered graphics do have their own advantages including no annoying camera problems, flickering and so on.
Not to mention I could care less if it is pre-rendered or actual polygons, if it looks this damn good (which it does), then either way it is impressive.a
Quit worrying about what could be done on the PS2 and what couldn\'t (I\'m sure it could of, though). Just enjoy the game for what it is and don\'t nit-pick beatuy .

LIC: Pre-rendered graphics is a thing of the past.
Sure it looks great! (FF7, 8, 9, Onimusha, Re ect ect.)
But its very limited.
Thats the only problem I got with it.. You cant really interact with it.
For an example you could never enter a first person mode while having pre-rendered graphics/backgrounds.

That is like saying 2D is a thing of the past. It is a very simple minded approach .
ANytime a choice like this is made, it is for a reason. Pre-rendered graphics do offer something the polygonal counterparts don\'t , which I have already listed and vice versa. Capcom\'s choice to use pre-rendred graphics allowed them to make one of the most gorgeous games out on the market (and the common gamer won\'t give a damn it\'s pre-rendred) and it also allowed them to give the feeling of a closed in space, something which RE:CV was sadly missing.
It is limiting, if you expect to enter a first person mode, but why would you in RE? You never have before, \'cept for the mini-game in CV, which wasn\'t that fun in the first place. And no, you can\'t destory items like a vase or what not. At the same time, pre-rendred graphics are less proccesor intensive so all the cpu can go to character models and lighting (which is freaking amazing in RE:Remake). THere is no way in hell , on any system, could of Capcom pulled off those character models and lighting with a fully 3D polygonal enviroment also.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Capcom simply went with the one that best fit the RE series (as it always has) and allowed them to do what they was hoping for in the game. You can call it a "thing of the past", but if pre-renders look this good and can get better, then I think you may see a new life in the "art" (and it is ).
