Title: Opinions on maximo?
Post by: luckee on March 18, 2002, 10:10:10 PM
I played it on a demo disk 2day, thought it seemed pretty cool. Does that certain collness wear off soon, or does it continue on? I dunno, maybe b/c I have been hoe sick since friday, but I kinda like. Like all demo disk\'s tho, the demo usually inst enough to make a descision, so all info is appreciated.

I bought it a couple of weeks back and it seems to be a really good game (although not played it that much due to MGS2 coming out at same time)
The levels are really well laid out with loads of secret areas and the gameplay is the same as in the demo that I played beforehand, lots of jumping around on platforms and hacking zombies up.
I am a bit biased as I loved the old ghosts and goblins games but I think it is worth the money.

Definately worth a mention.

I am at 60% game mastery and it is still enjoyable. The controls are decent, yet the ability to lock-on targets would be nice. The voice acting sucks arse, but the in-game music is fitting and and sometimes "hum worthy". There are "cheap deaths" in regards to the sluggish camera positioning and precision jumping (yes I know, it is a platformer), though nothing that can\'t be overcome with a little practice and patience. It is esthetically pleasing with top-notch lighting and a solid framerate. The inflexibility of the save system is a little irritating at first, but becomes acceptable after the first level or two. Maximo is a solid platfomer, quite worthy of one\'s time, and if you can over-look it\'s very minor imperfections, and enjoy this genre of game, it should prove to be a good subsitute for your hard earned cash.

I\'m gonna have to agree with the rest of the folks on this one. I was really surprised and enjoyed Maximo throughout. It really had a nostalgic feel, and was quite refreshing. Definitely one of the better platformers I\'ve played recently. Not to mention it provided a decent challenge. Always a plus. :)

I agree with everyone else here so far. Maximo is a very fun game and it is pretty challenging as well.
