Title: RE just for Game Cube?
Post by: Tom on March 19, 2002, 07:33:33 PM
I\'m sure by now we\'ve all heard that the new Resident Evil games are going to be for the Game Cube (the first one being a remake of RE1), but does anyone know if they are going to ever end up on the PS2? I think that it would be really crappy (and dumb) if Capcom made them for the Game Cube only. They\'ve already tried it once with Code: Veronica and the Dreamcast but jumped back when the system bombed. All I know is that I would be pretty upset if Capcom makes me have to go buy a Game Cube just so I can play the new Resident Evils.   :(

"Resident Evil: Online" has been announced for the PS2, I think.

I saw it on a release calandar online somewhere, and in a PS2 magazine.

The problem with your argument, Tom.. is that GameCube isn\'t likely to bomb. Nintendo hasn\'t announced plans to go third-party like Sega did right before Capcom ported RE:CV. Capcom needs to feed every console exclusive games.. they can\'t just concentrate on PS2.

To answer your question: RE1, RE0, and RE4 are supposed to be totally GameCube-exclusive.

RE:Online (tentative title) is supposedly coming out for PS2 later this year..

there are only 6 \'exclusive\' Resident Evil games for GameCube..

assuming the series is still alive after 4 and Online.. they will probably end up on PS2 again.. but obviously, thats not definate or even being thought of  :)

I KNOW it\'s not gonna bomb, thats why I\'m annoyed! I never said that GameCube was gonna fail, I just wanted to know why the original RE fan base is being alienated AGAIN! Does anyone know if PS2 is getting the new  (or any) RE games? Capcoms logic is confusing...why did they go over to Nintendo? Money?

I doubt Capcom is making the RE series totally exclusive. There\'s only going to be 2 new games (RE0 and RE4), a remake of part 1, and the rest of the series are going to be streight ports like they were for the DC. (RE2 and RE3 for PSX with AA and High rez is basically all they are)

PS2 will get RE:Survivor 2 and RE: Online. I\'m willing to be that once the contract runs out for Nintnedo.. or even before then, that the other Resident Evil titles will end up on other consoles.

Nintnedo will just get them first... and for an extended period of time.

It will be exlusive for about 3 months then itll come to ps2. Every exclusive game ends up on another system.

There are exceptions to that rule..

Also, there are already rumors that capcom is disapointed with NGC sales and may end up changing their exclusive plans if things don\'t pick up.. the Star Fox Adventures delay will not help much.

Chrono: That "GameCube sales being low" comment was from Capcom USA if I remember correctly, and was stated before the GameCube sales picked up in Japan. (after SSBM was released)

Heck, it wasn\'t even a press release.. Steven Kent just included that quote in an article about the industry, and everybody jumped on it. RE1 is definitely going to boost system sales in Japan.. it\'s one of the top 5 franchises over there in recent years. I don\'t think that people need to worry about GameCube losing RE\'s story-based exclusivity. It might happen to make a quick buck after the games clean up on GCN.. but from what I\'ve heard, one reason Capcom wanted to move to GCN was to become free of the Playstation 2\'s technological limits.

We\'ll see what happens.. in the meantime, I can\'t wait to play RE1.

I can\'t find the story again..
but I could have sworn it was released this year
Title: good Game Cube games?
Post by: Tom on March 20, 2002, 11:46:44 AM
Alright, I don\'t think I can wait that long for RE on PS2. I guess I\'ll go ahead and get a GameCube. I\'ve been considering getting a second system for a while now, and theres no way in hell I\'d ever get an X-Box... what are some other good GC games anyone could recommend (keep in mind I HATE Pokemon and all things related to it) that\'ll keep me busy until RE gets out? Whats a good GC RPG...IS there a GC RPG?

I\'ll be owning a NGC myself.. so i\'ll just buy it for the NGC
NGC is a good choice for a 2nd system.. but.. RPGs
well, there are none, and there probably won\'t be till next year.
and yes, nobody knows what the square game is, untill we hear what it is, it could be Final Fantasy tactics port for all we know.
Just wait untill RE comes out and then buy a NGC
Title: FF Advanced
Post by: Tom on March 20, 2002, 12:18:38 PM
I heard that the GameBoy Advanced is getting ports of Final Fantasy Tactics and some of the other 32/16 bit FF\'s. I suppose you are right; I\'m a RE junkie, not a Mario junkie; I\'ll just wait for RE on GC.:p

There\'s plenty of quality games on GameCube right now, more than most want you to believe. But some are just touched-up ports of PS2 games.. and in some cases, the PS2 version is better..

Nintendo hasn\'t pulling out the big guns yet; the system will be a lot more viable in the latter half of 2002.

GCN may have a smaller user base, but it is still a good console.

Resident Evil was at its peak with RE2, IMO.

From there its felt all downhill.

Resident Evil 1 was the best
Resident Evil 2 was great
Resident Evil 3 was great
Resident Evil Code Veronica was pretty good
Survivor.. i never played..

so basically, IMO, the games have gotten worse and worse each time  :)

Bob: I agree.. going from RE1 to RE2 to RE3 is a downward spiral.. although I think RE2 is almost as good as RE1.

I never played RE:CV. I think I might rent that one for GCN, or maybe buy it if they price it at ~$30 like they should.

Nemesis was the coolest enemy in all that is RE...

Second to Alexia, of course...
Title: A quote from OPM #55...
Post by: Tom on March 21, 2002, 05:53:20 PM
This appeared on page 63 in their Overheard Column.
" If Nintendo cannot get it\'s numbers up, particularly in Japan, we may need to reconsider keeping  Resident Evil exclusive to the Gamecube." - Capcom of America president Bill Gardner informs MSNBC.com that unless Nintendo starts selling more hardware, Resident Evil may end up elsewhere too.

Heh heh, pretty cool. Perhaps I\'ll hold off on getting that Gamecube.:eyemouth:

The problem with that quote is that it\'s old.. before the huge sales boost Nintendo got from SSBM in Japan.

Also, it\'s from Capcom of USA. They\'re just a subsidiary..

Capcom of Japan makes the games and also governs every subsidiary of it.. CoJ denied that RE is going to PS2*.

* the story-based games aren\'t going to PS2, but the Gun Survivors are.. and RE-Online.

Alexia??caaaawwww, Resident Evil: Code Veronica sucked balls man (as far as Resident Evil can).

Blade, if you havent played it, and you are fan of the series, i recommend you play it, its still a good game, but.. no where NEAR the quality of the rest of the series.. and is just one long ripo off after another rip off (can anyone say "Psycho"?)

but its a decent game and longer than the rest of the series..

but i\'d only rate it 83/100 which for a huge fan of RE isnt all that good

yeah i mena giving people a playable demo of Devil may cry was a big mistake because i have played the DEMO nver mind the full game more times than Resident Evil: Code Veronica .

don\'t get me wrong

Resident Evil: Code Veronica  was good , its just that it had the same snails pace control system that its had since the first game...

IMO the First one is STILL the best !
