please reply as i had a weird dream last night that i was actually in ICO fighting the shadow monsters !
-
You guys haven\'t played this yet huh?
Just released in the UK I guess?
Anyway it\'s one of my favorite games. I loved the puzzles. Some were done right mean.
You will probably get stuck here and there for what seems like forever and then all of a sudden you will be like. "Duh, how come I didn\'t think of that before?"
Great Game.
A little short and lacking in replay value, but still a classic.
Later

played fr about 30-50mins and WOW!!!!
graphics are amazing!!!! it all moves very easy, and controlls are soooo good!!!! the way it all moves, its unbeliveable!!!! really good fun. when you watch a cut scene ( short) if you press r2 you can zoom in ala mgs2
everyone must get this game!!!
-
just got it ........:D
the only problem is its in a cardboard box :(
i prefer plastic
ah well
looking forward to playing it.
-
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRR!!!!
I got to wait till the 27th to get mine.. Damn delays!! grrrrrr
-
I got mine on wednesday the 20th (Netherlands).
I really love the cardboard packaging and the \'artcards\'.
The artwork is better than the USA box imo and in
the typical de Chirico (surrealist painter) style. Hence it
got the name Ico I guess.
The game itself is highly enjoyable and it sets an
ambient mood as well as a bit scary mood. Gamplay
character animations and puzzles are great.
Thumbs up for  Sony who prove they can make a
game as a first party dev just as good as Nintendo or Sega.
-
yeah this is great!!!
it seems they took a chance with , with no life bas/not much action etc and it paid off!!!! thank god they took a chance

I\'m really glad people are enjoying this game... It is personally my one game.... Ok this and Shadow of Destiny or Memories.... Where I have to look back on it and try it again, and again. But even after you beat the game... A week later you\'ll be thinking..
Ahh.. I miss the fun in Ico.. I wanna play it bad! I miss the story!
It was the same for me with Shadow of Destiny/Memories.
Just how it was like for me with Ico - I played it almost non-stop the first night I got it! I got it the same time as Silent Hill 2, I popped in Ico played for 2 hours. Then I FORCED myself to stop playing and try SH2.
I put it in and played for 10 minutes... I then said, "screw this! Too boring!" and popped in Ico... I guess I wasn\'t all over the thought of blood and guts like I thought.:D
Funny thing is... I\'m no more than 1 hour into SH2.. I still have the save though, but I just have to much going on with other games.

Played the demo, and enjoyed its sublime, ethereal qualities.
And for a rather short demo, came quite attached to the Princess.
-
Marquis, wait until you play the ful game then. it surprised me for what little communication you have with her, that
how attached you become. it\'s ethereal. now this is a big statement but this imho absolutley kills MGS2..
Yeah, i said it. i waited ages for MGS2 but on hindsight, it didn\'t meet expectations at all. the graphics were excelent
in MGS2 but it didn\'t hold it together for me. ICO is a marvel in all aspects of the game. i also really enjoyed
Shadow of Memories so this may just be the knd of game i really like. Everyone iv\'e shown the game to absolutley love it.
it\'s a game that i rank in my top 5 of all time, easily. The ending was excelent and brought a lump to my throat.
And yeah, i ai\'nt ashamed to say so. if this game doesn\'t pull at your hart strings then you ain\'t human.
Believe the beauty that\'s ICO
-
Sounds very good Stanzo, and I value your opinion.
Is it true that once you complete the game, and re-start, you\'re able to understand what the Princess says?
-
apparently so mate, but i not completed it yet....but yeah its true!!
-
I loved that game. It was the first game I ever played on PS2.
"ohmm-paa!, Ohmm-paa!" ;)

MGS2 and Ico were THE games to await the last months
here in Europe. When it comes to hype these games are
each others opposites ;) So everybody had ultra high
xpectations for MGS2 while Ico was a sleeperhit candidate.
MGS2\'s story baffled me at first with it\'s somewhat shallow
and over-the-top plot, whereas Ico gets one hooked from
the get-go. Now I must say that the second time you play
MGS2, the story makes more sense and I find myself playing
this game again and again. I haven\'t finished Ico yet, but
it\'s a marvelous game featuring top gameplay and graphics.
I also find it very re-assuring Sony CAN indeed create such
a fine game on it\'s own PS2 hardware. 3DO can learn from
this ! LOL

I hated ICO it was all nothing but good graphics to me. The battle system just suck. And the monster where horrible. And the wooden stick was just awful. And I am not a big puzzle fan so the game was a huge let down for me.
-
Im getting it on Thursday!
YES!
QuDDus: Its not a frickin action game! And Im not surprised you didnt understand it..

haha... Your pretty stupid aren\'t ya?

dont know about ICO, demo is good, graphics are nice but dont think they are better than MGS2, characters lack detail.
Have read its too short, and lacks any replay value, fair comment or harsh reviewers????

Depends on peoples tastes, each to their own. but i believe that it looks better than MGS2.
the game will take you about 9 - 10 hours to comlete but those 10 hours are all gaming heaven.
The level design is amazing but if you look closely at the characters, i believe that there cell shaded. use the shoulder
button to zoom in on them and they do look cell shaded.
Personally, i love this type of game and if you remotley like anything adventurous then this is for you.
"Characters lack detail...." phah.. Why did i and 90 % of reviewers
get emotionally attached to them so much then.

Well the character models in Ico have less polygons than the
player models in MGS2, true. But Ico\'s characters shine because
of the superb handcrafted animation, so judging that based on
static screenshots doesn\'t do this game any justice. Ok MGS2\'s
animation are also topnotch, but in Ico you can see how they
are all so fine, detailed and fit to the environment and situations
just like in a cartoon.

I personally found ICO to be a piece of crapola\', but that is just my opinion on the game. As for the often mentioned Shadows of Destiny (okay, so maybe its never mentioned, except for this thread), well that game just kicked total ass. A highly original idea and simply one of the best PS2 games out.

I know that\'s what I\'m sayin! That and Ico are awesome games. Ones that when you think about it.. You seem to remember the good old days... Like you miss it terribly.
-
You guys got cards?
We didn\'t get any extras.

wells its a bit pointless having high detailed characters, the view is norm, ally zoomed out, so you couldnt see the detail anyways!!!
i think it looks very good, move very smooth!!! also has some replay as the 2nd time through you get to see what the princess says!!! also there are many games you can complete once, and the 2nd time through nothing changes, but it doesnt stop you playing i again i you really enjoyed it the first time
