Title: what car are you planning on buying/or what mods are you planning
Post by: theomen on March 24, 2002, 05:25:45 PM
I\'m planning on picking up a 2001 Ford F150 SVT Lightning, or a \'97 Porsche Boxster, and was wondering what cars/trucks you guys are eyeing.  Or if you aren\'t planning on buying something new, what mods are you planning to put on your current vehicle?  Also list the specs for your future vehicle, for those who are unfamiliar.  BTW please be reasonable, don\'t say you are going to buy a brand new million dollar 2002 Bugatti 16/4 Veyron, w/ 1000bhp.

As for the lightning:  local price 24,000
Horsepower: 380hp @ 4750 rpm
Torque: 450ft-lbs. @ 3250 rpm

The Boxster:  Local price is 22,000
Horsepower: 201hp @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 181ft-lbs. @ 4500 rpm

and yes these are realistic goals, thanks to me being single, with no debt.

I\'m looking for 1998 VW Jetta GLX (2.8l VR6; stock 176 hp).
New ECU, stainless cat back DTM exhaust, coilover\'s, 17\'s w/Toyo\'s. That\'s it. Maybe M3 mirrors & some Abt/ Oettinger body stuff.

I\'ve got my eye on a sweet little 1971 ford pinto station wagon, with dynamic exploding gas tank, dual reactive overhead
ka-neuter valves, mosenferrier muffler bearings, and englehardt piston cams. I figure with a little tweaking, I can coax 150-200hp outta her...

you can get a supra...it might not be new, but it will be just as reliable if it is in decent shape as the RSX, it will also end up being cheaper, faster and handle better :)

If you are stuck on the RSX..just get a 00 or 01 TypeR...Pretty much the same car..but ITR will also be faster, corner much better and will be just as reliable.

I think the used market for ITRs is very tight.  They are in such demand that they command an unusually higher price.  Likewise, I heard that the ITR is one of the most stolen vehicles in North America.  It doesn\'t appear near the top of the stolen vehicles aggregate data because they were never sold in such great numbers as the Civics and Camrys.  Nevertheless, I believe they are stolen way out of proportion to their numbers.

Personally I think Integras are ugly, and the RSX is only a marginal improvement in styling.

Supras are hard to find at a decent price! Like this dude here in virginia is selling his supra for $40,000 with 15,000 miles on it. Thats ridiculous...well i\'ll keep searching for one under 23,000 at decent condition...

well the ITR is a real nice car too, but thats another rare car to find, but i think i\'ll take the RSX-S over that. BTW i dont think that the ITR is faster than the RSX-S, if it is i dont think it is by much.

Supras are dirt cheap in AUS, and they are everywhere, you can get a resonably modded 95 Supra with under 40 000 k\'s for around $AUS 20 000, which is around $US 11 000...

Pretty cheap for kicking car.

Just to shows you all, this baby has 70 000 KMS/45 000 Miles on it, Turbo, mods etc, new muffler, 94 model and its....

$AUS 21, 999

Pretty damn cheap I say...

Well, I have a manual Protege ES. The only thing I can do with it is rice it out since there are no real performance parts for it. Just a useless wing (Protege is Front Wheel Drive) and Clear tail lights.

Like so...

i gots my car already 2002 grand am gt (if you didnt see my post about it earlier)
it has a pretty sweet monsoon sound system in it wich is enough for me no mods there
deffinatly a k&n filter as soon as i get a couple thousand miles on the car (only 400 miles right now)it already has a nice dual exaust on it and im afraid if i put a new exaust on it it\'ll sound like a riceburner if i wanna change the sound of my exaust i want it to be low and rumbly like a chevy 350 or a 5.0 mustang
i woundnt mind those purply looking headlights and maybe a new hood for the ramair
but i pretty much like the way my car is but if i ever got the cance at a blue wrx id jump at it in a second

There\'s only 1 prob with that..it isnt a 350 or 5.0 V8..its a V6. Just do your homework..there is a nice cat-back system out there for ya. :)

It still won\'t get that low rumble though, no cat-back, and no muffler in the world will get a true V8 sound, unless you add 2 more cylinders to your engine :).  But it can sound "better", and sound impressive, but don\'t expect to scare old ladies and small children with a V6...or many new V8\'s, damn companies are making their engines quieter and quieter, oh I long to hear a Hemi.

that wasnt my point..one can still make sure their car doesnt sound like a can of angry bee\'s.
