Title: blood omen 2
Post by: MPTheory on March 26, 2002, 05:12:28 PM
No patients?  then, no like!   yeah, the opening scared me.. At first I thougt that The games actual production was going to suck ass... but, give it a good 20 mins. into it, and its alllll gravy... Kain gets better to use as you go...  Ive never had so much fun killing my own race...  Oh yeah, you can kill cats! haha

I\'m still interested in this game

Yeah.... I read the IGN review and paid attention to what he said about it.... I have lost my faith in IGN.. By the looks of the review, he took little problems and blew them up to be major pain in the @ss things... The framerate and little bugs here and there in the gameplay - for example: if you were to kill somebody sometimes they would fall THROUGH the wall... But that really wouldn\'t bug me a whole lot..

Also it has little replay value... But then again.. Most games don\'t have unlimited replayability either...

The score should of deserved a 9 point...

Even in that review he said it was addicting as hell running around killing and sneaking around... That\'s what most of the game is! And if that\'s real fun.. What\'s the big problem? I say pick it up.. I know I will.:D

We all know how many glitches there are in GTA:3, but the game still rocks.  I sure hope we can say the same for this game.

I am renting the game and I am on chapter 2.   So far nothing special. (except killing cats)

Post by: MPTheory on March 27, 2002, 09:02:07 AM
so yeah, Im on chapter 6 now... I love this game.... nothing better than sneaking up on people and stabbing them with all sorts of fun, and very sharp objects... and if that isnt enough.  punching your fist right through your enemy\'s chest, making their heart fall on the ground, will surely be enough...
Anybody that loves the "legacy of Kain" series, will love this game.  Make sure  your ready for a chalenge, The humans are not as easy as you would think they are.
One negative thing I can say though:  I don\'t know who they have looking for bugs over there at Crystal, but, they need to hire someone else... Restartng the game, becase Kain gets stuck on a ladder, can really piss someone off...

Okay, heres what I think.. The Game play is pretty good.  they have a lot of cool puzzles and the "dark gifts" that you receive in the game are pretty cool.  Now, I was talking to Justlight, and we have come to the co0nclusion that Blood omen 2 was supposed to be a release for the PS1, and judging by MOST of the graphics, that holds true. the frame rate is kind of poor, there are alot of characteristics of the game that seem to run like a PS1 game (Like the body movements of the charaters, at least judging by the work that was put into soul reaver 2, and also little things, like, people falling through walls.)  There are also some glitches that could have been ironed out.  Now, the story is pretty good.  Don\'t get me wrong, the game is very playable.  Its just a shame that they didnt put a little more time into the developement of the game.  So, with all this said, I would have to say:  If you are a big fan of the Legacy of Kain series, this is a "must have" game... now, If this happens to be the first out of all 4 from the series you were planing on getting, I wouldnt start with this one!  You wont be impressed, (at least not for a PS2 game).

I just picked it up on and so far other than a few control complaints I think it\'s pretty good.

I haven\'t noticed any major framerate issues. What I have noticed is the Streaming data off the disc sometimes slows it a bit. I guess that\'s what you mean. But I only notice that when I step on a checkpoint. It lasts for a few seconds after that.

I\'m loving the Darl Gothic Atmosphere, it\'s pretty cool. The sneaking and Gliding is awsome. It\'s cool to be on a rooftop and glide down and drop right behind an unsuspecting pedestrian and then gore them. What could be better than that?
I wish there was more of that though. More stealth would be cool. Right now where I am in the game, most people just ignore this 6 and a half foot vampire, with a bloody Sword, while he is walking down the street.

of course if I saw a 6.5\' Bloody sword carrying vampire I would probably ingore him as well.

The puzzles I have encountered have been pretty good so far. I like the way the puzzles are not only there to inpeed your progress, but you also need to solve some to beat the bosses.

People may want ot rent it first. But if you like Vampires and the concept of the game I think you are pretty safe to buy it. EVen if you never played any of the other games.

I have no knowledge of the series and it\'s not bothering me a bit. They explain what you need to know at the beginning.

Want my suggestions on the game? GET IT! I got it last weekend.. And I don\'t want to stop playing it! I\'m on chapter 11.. I think near the end of the game... And I love the game!

The only thing that gets old is the nonstop blocking.. But it\'s worth it when you get that final smack of the weapon on his @ss.. Everytime you suck more blood and kill others.. Your lore bar raises.. Which is your strength and power..

The puzzles in the game can be challenging when you see them.. But if you think to yourself.. Okay.. I see a box I can move.. This puzzle involves the box... Hmm... Then if you look around and experiment.. You eventually solve. Most puzzles are easy.. Like dropping a box from a high elevation to blow a hole in the ground.. Or moving the box across water onto a square switch that opens a door.

The game is real fun.. I swear you will have fun with the game.. And the story is actually pretty good. The thought of Kain ruling the land again excites me... Not much plot twists.. But I only have one.. It involves Kain and another vampire... A woman vampire.. But I won\'t give anything away.

I HAVE ONLY ONE PROBLEM SO FAR IN THE GAME!... And that\'s the framerate.. You notice it dropping when it\'s loading the area ahead... It can be annoying.. But if you just stop in your spot and let it load for 2 secs.. It\'s worth it. I\'ve had one freeze in the game.. It was during a fierce battle with 3 guards.. The guards with the Sparda lookin swords... I notice the framerate dropping during that fight.. Then it stopped...

I haven\'t had any other framerate problems during any other battles.. When I shut down the ps2 and restarted.. It ran fine after that.

Now... If you were to get the Xbox version.. I bet that freeze would have never happened.. But I got over that problem fast.. The game is real fun.. Addicting as fvck!

One thing I love about the game is fighting the bosses.. There is always some strategy for you to figure out.. Kinda little puzzles to kill.

GET IT!

That boss is easy if you take the time to figure it out... Hint.... Notice the mist in the second room.;)

I take back what I said about the framerate. The deeper I got into the game the worse it got.

But at no time does it make it unplayable, just a little distracting until things settle down.

There was one time I jumped into a window or whatever and the Matryx never loaded. I was stuck in a grey void with no objects of any kind. I could still run around and when I looked back I could see the World I left through the window I entered, like I just went into a mirror and I was looking back out of it. It was kinda cool and all I did was go back out of the window and come back in and everything was fine.

I think the fighting is getting a little stale (Chapter 6) but I can deal, because it\'s more of a stealth/puzzle game than all out action title. Which I actually prefer.

I\'ll probably finish this weekend and then never play it again.

Anyone find any secrets or anything like that?
Secret Areas?
Secret Weapons?
Etc.?

Nah.. There can\'t be secret areas.. I searched everywhere I could possibly go in the game so far....

Secret weapons?! Ha! Once you get them.. You use it for a while.. Then you lose it either by exploding from damage or trying to save and restart..

Yeah, this game was alright, but, It just doesnt meet the standards of the whole legacy.... If you liked this game, you HAVE to, at least, rent Soul Reaver 2!  that game kicks ass, I like the story behind it all, and I like Raziel as the main Character better too!  Dont get me wrong.  Kain is on bad ass motha.... but, Raziel is more of the under dog... you gotta check it out.  Dont worry, lots of blood and head chopping (If thats what you want).  There is something to be said about being "Unstopable".

I would rent it first.  Decide from that point.  I would buy Soul Reaver agian if I didnt already have it ;).  I cant say anything bad about that game... Its cool too, cause once you beat the game, it opens up some extra features that show the people that do the voice overs for all the characters,(a couple movies to watch).. so, yeah, get soul reaver.... You wont be disapointed.

yeah, I liked the first soul reaver, but the second one is much better.. When I played the demo for soul reaver 2, I wasnt impressed.. You have to actually play the game to get the full effect.. Its funny, because when I bought the game, and I got the the part that was on the demo, I looked NOTHING alike.  the textures are awesome in soul reaver 2.. I was just playing it last night, and I got to a part where the floor is made to look like Marble... It looks awesome.  I love the game.  Also, In the demo, the movement to Raziel is kind of slow. They fixed that.  ;)  Check it out

well i enjoyed the first one, but thought the fighting got very samey and very easy!!! there were like no tactics, just go in and attack, and you would win..hope they improved it, cos that was my biggest complaint the fighting
Title: fighting in Soul Reaver
Post by: MPTheory on April 12, 2002, 06:39:25 AM
The fighting in Soul reaver 2 is harder.. most of the attacks are comming from humans with swords and lances.  There are some friggin huge demons that will lay the smack down on you, and some even appear in the spiritual realm after kicking your ass in the material realm, so, you have to actually do some blocking, doging, and funning from guided missles (Magic bursts and stuff)

yeah.  In the demo, Raziel moves slower than his attackers... In the final, he is alot quicker.  but when I fight in the game (Because your usually being attacked by more then 1 person at a time)  I will run from person to person taking jabs at them until there are just a few people to kill at one time.  It kind of works out to where you kill certain kinds of people, in a group, first.  You will have to get it to find out what I mean by that.  ( dont want to spoil too much on you) ;)

Hey.. Thanks a lot.. I recently beat Blood Omen 2.. And well.. I won\'t be playing it again.. Toward the end of the game.. You get bored with the non-stop blocking and lame fighting..

I know for sure that SR will be more fun than this game.

Just bought the game last night and i can say that its better than SR1 and SR2.Did you guys know that this game offers the best boss battle ever?

I fought with the first traitor vampire boss,it was excellent.........Downright Challenging!,scary too...

We first fought hand to hand combat and the guy keep taunting and laughing...then  i chased him into a big hall where we both used magic to fight.

This game is just classic coz when the boss died, i inherited his power which is the jumping skill . This is my favourite dark gift at the moment.

Now i can use the gift to jump across buildings and also to attack guards from far.

I just beat BO2 on Sunday.

Overall I wasn\'t very impressed. It was average at best, but having a love for anything Vampire it made the game a little better. Plus the story, script and atmosphere were done very well.

But by the time I was on the last chapter I was so tired of hitting switches and blocking I was ready to just quit. None of the puzzles are every really challenging, Just pretty much hit the first swicth you come to, then the next then the next and you will probably get it.

I didn\'t find any of the boss battles hard. Some were a little criptic, and some I beat and have no idea what I did.

There was one, I think it was Sabastian (the nexus stone guy) where I got up to take a wiz and when I came back he was half dead and I was fine. I didn\'t do anything, and got easily past the first stage.

then there was another boss, where I stood under a big statue and he couldn\'t hit me, after a few minutes the battle just ended and I won. No idea what happened there.

I\'m gonna be trading a guy for SR2, this week. I\'m looking forward to that.

Does SR2 have better puzzles and more of them. Because that\'s what I\'m really into. That\'s why ICO was one of my favorites.

Most definately... there are some good pussles... Things that will take you awhile to figure out.. Im pretty sure you will like this game.. Im positive that I will play this again in the future.  There are some full levels that are nothing but a gigantic puzzle.  Its great.  They really put alot of thought into the whole change between material and spectral realms.. (puzzles)  Im sure you will enjoy.  It also really gets your heart pumping ;)  If your into the storyline games that is.
