Will we ever see games more impressive than Ico?
How?!?!?!????
That game is so breathtaking in every single respect that I wonder if we really can expect more from the machine.
I personally will never need more from a video game than what Ico offers. Can graphics in a PS2 game ever get better than Ico\'s, for example? When I say graphics, I mean everything you see on screen, though- the scale of the buildings, the incredible draw distances, the incredible lighting, atmosphere, etc.
Will we ever see games more impressive in SCOPE than Ico? That game is the BIGGEST game I have ever played- I mean this literally. You can look around/up the castle at any one time and just be awed by the huge-ness of it all.
While we\'re on the subject, does anybody know if there is a sequel planned? Anybody have links to developer interviews?
I\'m asking because I will be picking up a PS2 sometime in the next couple weeks.

yeah i think games will b better than ico...its silly to think it will never been beaten!!!
but i must admit it is amazingly good!!!
dunno if there is gonna be a ico2, hope there is

Fumito Ueda did a interview with ops2m uk current issue
ops2:Will there be a sequel.
fumito udea: At this point we\'re not planning one, but i\'d like to create a game that shares the same kind of atmosphere and concept.I\'m actually in the midst of preparing another game at the moment but i can\'t really talk about it yet.
and it also says that ueda-san is planning to visit the grand canyon to research his next ps2 game

Yes, you can bet that there will be many games to come that will be far better than Ico... Think of when the psx first came out... those games are frigging horrible compared to what the latest releases for psx were. so, considering the fact that we are just entering the ps2 age... well, you know....yeah....good stuff to come
-
yeah there will be
ICO is just the tip of the PS2 Ice BERG !
P.S.
I am ALSO another member that was blown away by ICO.
-
I think ICO has already been beaten gaming wise. I think there is another game that will never be beaten. That game is FF7. Sure graphic wise its never going to be the best unless it is remade.....wait a second I thought I heard it was being remade but im not sure......if someone can tell me that would be great. But some games cant be beaten by other games no matter how good it is. A racing game cant beat a RPG because they are in two different catagories. Unless your talking about a RPG from 1980 and a fighting game from 2002.

fastson ive emailed you the interview

I do think that PS2 games will be significantly more graphically impressive than ICO. IMO people who think the PS2 isn\'t going to improve are just being ignorant (for example, the people who say VF4 maxed out the PS2). I can\'t say how much better the graphics will become because I really don\'t know, but I do think they will get a lot better.

MAKAVELIUK, could you send me the interview too? My e-mail is

MAKAVELIUK: Thanks alot mate.. Great read :)
IronFist: Yeah.. Ico does not "push" PS2..
Here is what Ueda said..
OPS2M: Are there any technologies or graphics techniques in the game that you\'re particularly proud of?
Ueda: Its kind of hard for our team to compare with say, Square or Namco in terms of realism, so we used a different techniques to make big contrasts within the environment. When you look at the castle, for instance, there are shadowy places and bright, sunlit areas for a more dramatic expression. Of course, you could present a colourful, vibrant world, but Ico has a subtle and reserved style. Take movies as an example: even with modern technology available, some movies opt for a grainy effect for the visuals as a means of expression. Ico is lo-fi (running at 30 frames) and the modelling is in low resolution. The team intentionally avoided using the maximum graphics specs in order to give the game something different and make it stand out.
Like someone said.. The best brushes does not make a painting. Err if you know what I mean :D

EDIT: How the hell did I post in here, I was in another thread!?
-
In all honesty, it depends on what aspects you found impressive. Sure, it had great environments and immersive elements, but the controls left alot to be desired and it was just too strange for my liking.
Its a brilliant game, but of course there will be better in the future. Its not as though it all stops with ICO.
I found it to be alittle \'Lord of The Ringish\' as well, which isn\'t a bad thing, but probably isn\'t a great thing either.
-
hmm I don\'t get what\'s wrong with the controls at all. I loved \'em.

Makaveli, could you send me That interview too? Please :)

I think (personally), that if you have yet to play all of the PS2 games, you may be getting a little worked up over one title. I do believe that there will be far better titles on the PS2 in the future. I will also ad that I enjoyed ICO as well, but it was not the best game on the system for me.;)

Kituka & Marconelly ive sent you the interview

Haha... I\'ve had that happen..
Ico was a wonderful game! But there is always room to improve.:)
-
I haven\'t actually played the game yet but as most people are saying I think the PS2 certainly has room to improve.
-
i cant wait to give this a try.....well i think that people have a lot of different tastes in games so they might think that other titles that are to be released might be better...(personally) i cant wait for medal of honour frontline and ff10.
