looks good
nothing the DC or PS2 really couldnt handle
VERY touchy controls, take some major adjustment
gameplay is ok, im got bored after 3 levels, and put fatal frame back in my PS2
the ign review praised the lack of draw-in
they\'re full of crap
i wont nit-pick about graphics and gameplay, but i think MDK2 did it better.
-
I have to agree that IGN is full of crap :D

AGREED. Not only is IGN full of crap, their whole company rep has really gone down the tubes. I thought I would have never seen the day they would be this low. First they mention they are in a money crisis about 2 and a half years ago, and they think they are extremly cute by showing us silly pictures of themselves wanting our cash. Then they present us with IGNInsider [insert IGN joke here] that promises us only news IGN can deliver on the spot (although gamespot and the inquier do a better job IMO). THEN, they think they are the freaken empire of console content and they make anyone who wants to read their new reviews/previews to IGNInsiders.
Ok, so we were able to manuver that sharp move. But it wasn\'t til as of late when I was trying to find some screenshots on their site *shrug* was I met with a page stating, "You\'ve reached your 5 view page limit. To futher continue your browse, please register to IGNInsider."
/me looks, sips his lemon coke, closes IE window, goes back to gamespot.com
They\'ve really reached an all time low. I wonder what makes them so unique out of the others. I mean they have to make more pages than they really need out of a review just to get more page views. Not to mention their horridenous java pop-up ads. My RPM rate on my fan of my AMD T-bird goes from like 6500RPM to about 7100RPM just to keep up with the pathetic ad.
This is just a clear rant. Let this not affect what the topic was originally, because I just needed to vent out some feelings about IGN, mind you

Basher. mm you obviously need a new xbox and I\'ll be riding your back until you get one
[/watchdog mode]
The IGN review read like an ad for xbox, no joke
-
ign collects money for postive reviews, its confirmed
-
I think they favor specific companies, cause they give too much credit to duds that would be much better off putting a brown bag over their developers heads
-
It\'s funny, I never thought that a drop in quality content from one site would make me like another so very much. I used to hate Gamespot, I thought their reviews were pathetic and intollerable. In all actuality, they are spot on in almost every way. They don\'t over praise and they definitely do not tilt scores in favor of any companies. If a game is crap, they say so, end of story and I really admire that about them.
IGN on the other hand... They are incapable of stating any qualms with any games. If a game has poor controls that take hours upon hours to adjust to with a difficulty level that is incredibly unbalanced, they think the controls are perfect and are a breat of fresh air because they are difficult to use and if the game is hard it\'s a challenge that is sorely needed in the industry. Are they incapable of seeing games for what they are? It\'s just BS.
Who cares anyways? Reviews are just ways for IGN to pawn off a game that is otherwise mediocre... What they say is fluff in an otherwise screenshot driven community.

WORD

So some reviewers liked an Xbox game or two and they are considered bias...whatever.
I actually enjoy the game...it\'s more of a rental though. It\'s quite short, but definetley a challenge.

Its not just liking it, its overrating it, and thats not the first game.. see WWF Raw.. want more I can get more
-
Give me a few examples...one is not going to convince me otherwise.

There\'s a limit to liking a game, and just plain polishing the creator\'s brass. Xbox.ign is not the ONLY ign site doing this though and I accuse the entire site of doing what I said above, not just ign.xbox. And with so many editors all giving rather high scores for any game that is just a little bit high profile, I\'m dissapointed. Gun Valkyrie is their latest example of this trend, but in no way is it the only example. I can go and get at least five other recent examples and that\'s just sad. It was a knock at an entire sites credibility, not just one section.

Wasn\'t sure if it was aimed specifically at Xbox.ign...
rant on...

You specifically mentioned the xbox, I didn\'t. Besides that, we were referring to IGN, so xbox... IGN... I just put two and two together from what you said.
-
Can anyone else get into IGN right now? I can\'t.
Maybe those money craving bastards finally shut down! :bounce:
O yeah, either that or they read the e-mail I sent them. Basically I told them exactly what everyone else says in here.

It started with mm saying an aspect of the game (Xbox game mind you) was overrated , then someone mentioned ign overrated, I put the two together...my bad.
-
yer right, they both ARE overrated
-
I actually agree with you...
It had its\' high points, some of the levels were spectacular, some were dull. Your characters weapons seemed ineffective at times...
The gameplay constantly hammered your skills though...
The game had much potential, sadly I doubt we\'ll see another one.
Oh well, the next chunk of Smilebit goodness will come in the form of Panzer Dragoon...

rikku and I agreed on something!

I agree ign does overrate titles. But who has the "bleeping" rite to rate a game and that be the "bleeping" rate it should have? I actually like Fuzion Frenzy, and Blood Wake and feel that they should be rated much higher than the 70\'s.
I happen to agree with ign\'s rating of those to titles I might of gave them higher ratings they are two solid games. As for the others Ign is smoking dope.

Why are you always doing that "/me" stuff? Does anyone else find this annoying?
I think someone is spending just a little too much time on IRC.

I don\'t know mm, GV is an awesome game. It\'s like Burning Rangers meets Metroid. I love it, I really do. Sure it\'s tough and touchy, but the former is a welcome sight and the latter is remedied after half an hour of playing.
And I don\'t think the DC could do this and in the interest of avoiding a debate I\'m not going to comment on the PS2\'s ability one way or another.
-
DC could do it
DC did *insert heavenly sound here* shenmue :)
-
Well, that\'s it then, no sense in debating. We\'ll agree to disagree (this is much easier than bickering back and forth and never coming to a resolution anyway).
