Title: Calling all computer junkies
Post by: Halberto on March 29, 2002, 07:15:22 PM
I am thinking about buying a GeForce 4 Ti4600 (http://gamespot.com/gshw/stories/flat/0,12880,2845978,00.html) and I was just wondering if you think I should buy a different video card.  I only have $200 so there is a price limit.

Suddenly I\'ve become a PC gamer, and it\'s cool! :)

I just got EverQuest and I\'m gonna buy 3 more PC games.  Probably Return to Castle Wolfenstien, Max Payne, and I\'m gonna wait for the new doom or Unreal Tournament 2003.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein is great.  I\'ve been playing that for months now, and I\'m still hooked.

Vivi,

How fast is your CPU? And just so you know, the Ti 4600 is $399 (retail price) so that $200 limit isn\'t going to cut it. =/

Yes, It\'s a little more expensive than $200. I bought RTCW and it\'s a good game but boring after 10 mins for me.

1.5 Ghz and 384 MB RAM.

Is there a different GeForce 4 I can get with $200?

My Radeon has been very good to me.  Although the screens of the GF4 look very impressive.  But so does the price $$$.

MGR is reffering to the MX line of GeForce4\'s

The GeForce4 Ti 4200 is a perfectly acceptable option for "value gaming". Cards based on this chipset are set to start coming out by the end of April. Perhaps representing the greatest value in nVidia\'s latest line of power cards, the main drawback of the GF4Ti4200 is the wait. Expect prices close to $US199.

How long do I have to wait?  I thought it comes out this month!

You can get a Geforce 4 MX, but it\'s a not worth getting it.  Might as well go with Geforce 3 Ti, I had this conversation with Ryu.

Well, it\'s better than mine, so I\'ll give it my stamp of approval
