Title: so who has seen resident evil the movie?
Post by: unknown on March 31, 2002, 01:04:53 PM
I went to go watch it last week, it was pretty good actually, I like the begining when it talks about how umbrella is top o da world. But man if they would have stuck to the actual story line a bit more, the movie would have been so much better.

what did you guys think?

It was okay, I guess.

Every 15 min. there was a "don\'t look behind you but. . ." scene.  It got real boring.

It is. . . I saw it for free, so I can\'t complain.
Title: IMO, good movie. Not great, but good.

As a horror movie, average. Better then a lot of crap Hollywood puts out and calls horror, but this movie didn\'t scare me one bit. Second, charecter development. A few of the charecters needed better charecter development IMO, like the main charecters. And yes, that "gay" kick where Mila kicks the dog. Looked dumb in the previews, looked dumb in the movie. The story didn\'t add much to Resident Evil as well.

HOWEVER, that Milla kick was like what, 30 seconds, if even that, of the movie. The "Matrix ripoff" scenes like the bullet time, again, like 30 seconds of the movie so I didn\'t complain about that. And either of these scenes didn\'t look as bad as many people here (well, gaming forums in general [whether it be here or Resident Evil forums, and whatnot]). Also, the movie is supposed to be a prequel. While I wouldn\'t have a problem if it followed the game story, I probably would\'ve been more critical if it did. Especially if he changed a few things here and there (being a somewhat hardcore Resident Evil fan, would\'ve took the movie apart if that was the case). So far, the movie appears to be a companion to the games.

So, all in all, good enjoyable movie that fits in the Resident Evil universe well.

I thought it was pretty good. The reason it didn\'t stick to the story line because it was set 1 month before the events in the first game (setting up what happened), until ***SPOILER***
Alice wakes up in the hospital, which is sometime during 2 or 3.

BTW, did you guys see that Jason X preview? Looks like mindless fun, just like RE.:D

Ok , it was the best movie about a game ever... and it was a rpetty decent movie. The sequel will be a  lot better , and unknown this movie wasnt about any of the games... it was like a made up story... unless i missed something..

It wasn\'t about any of the games. However, Paul Anderson said that this movie is a prequel to the current games (even RE0 if RE0 takes place during RE1...or actually slightly before it from what I am gathering [basically telling the adventures of Bravo team right before their eventual slaughter in the mansion. Main focus being Rebbecca of coarse]).

ok the main monster in the movie was one of the first monsters you see in RE2 " the one with no eyes and the brain"

it has been changed, but its still bese don the game.

such as when the scientist says " put him in the nemesis project"

The main monster in the movie is the licker (just giving that "the one with no eyes and the brain" a name unknown ;)). Apparently, by going what the movie says, it was created by injecting the T-Virus directly into living tissue. Now, a few Resident Evil fans were "dissappointed" that it wasn\'t the Tyrant (which seems to be the mainstay on all the Resident Evil games [and the reason why it is called the T-Virus). But again, it is a prequel, and the first tyrant of games (RE1) which as 1 month after the movie was kinda...not done).

well i just dont know why its a prequel if they ended it when part 2 starts. AND they talked about nemesis from part 3, i guess its just a jumble of all the games.

and I think no eyes and a brain name suites the creature just fine thank ya very much :D j/k

long time no see simchoy.

I thought it was good. But as for me, I prefer a good sci-fi horror instead.

Title: Oh, just in case, potential spoliers in this reply if anyone is concerned.

The movie is both a prequel to the first game, and  a sequel to it in a way (kinda like how Resident Evil 3 was a prequel and a sequel to Resident Evil 2 [before Jill got infected, before Resident Evil 2, after getting infected after Resident Evil 2]). Everything before the final scene where Alice is standing in a "dead" Raccoon City so to speak is before Resident Evil 1. Afterwards, Resident Evil 2/3.

And I\'ve been around. Just haven\'t had the time to post much here, or anywhere for that matter.

First off, the movie was not near as bad as I had expected. I do have some comments though.
