Title: Is it so much to ask.........
Post by: Titan on April 02, 2002, 07:34:37 PM
Is it so much to ask to play a quick game of Timesplitters before going to sleep? Oh my God. I\'m too pissed off to fiddle around with other PS2 Format CD-Roms (the blue disk). It took me over 10 freaking minutes just to get the CD cleaner to work and that still didn\'t fix my problem. This isn\'t the first time either. Once in the summer and once just in the past few months. I did eventually get the game to work and I didn\'t have problems for a while but not in this case. It always seems to start with TimeSplitters and screws the other PS2 CD-Roms over. I hope I don\'t have to send my PS2 to Boston for their low cost of 119 bucks and all they do is open it and say that nothing was wrong. I\'d call their consumer help line but I already did that in the summer and they are of no help. I know more about the problem and what\'s going on then they do. And most of the crap they tell me to do is common sense. "Is the CD in?" "Is your console on?" "Is the CD tray in?" "Is it plugged in?" "Is the power on?". I don\'t know what I\'m going to do. I\'ll try again tomorrow and if it doesn\'t, I don\'t know what I\'ll do. If it matters, my model number is SCPH-30001 (not the serial number).

Have you opened it up to manualy clean the laser?CD lens cleaners will clean loose objects off of it but not the film of dust.If you have maybe it\'s the power to the laser.Go to gamefaqs.com and check the PS2 hardware section for faq\'s on it and they will lead you right thru it.

What do you people do to your consoles?

I\'ve not had one single problem

*****knock on wood.

I\'ve got a launch PS2, had it since the beginnning, play it a few hours a day, not a single problem, \'cept for that one time with FFT, but that was a flop of the disk, returned it for a good one.

No scratched disks, no lense problems. What. . . do y\'all live in dust factories or something?

It\'s not dust, its a manufacturing problem: something to do with a magnet, that\'s why lens cleaners won\'t work. BTW, explain to Sony that you have a problem with a first generation PS2 (tell \'em the dreaded "Disk Read Error" screen is affecting your blue backs) and they will repair it for free. Mine\'s due back tomorrow, can\'t wait! I had the same problem, and they repaired it for free, took only 17 days.:D

Yeah so common. Sony are ****ers. So much so compared to say Microsoft which everyone seems to hate at the moment. I mean I don\'t want to turn this thread into a debate but lets face it theres been so many people with PS2 problems.

Remember the news about that memo from inside Sony which said that some of the machines (can\'t remember the amount I think it was more than half) didn\'t meet consumer standards. I mean what the feck.

Im affriad that Titan\'s PS2 is just another example of the fabulous Sony everyone loves.

And void my warrantee? If I open it my self, I will screw something up. I\'ll check out Game FAQs. Thanks.

RichG might be right. I might have gotten the messed up ones that they sent over here. I got it on Christmas but not sure when my mom picked it up. I think around the beginning of December. I only have this problem with TimeSplitters (it\'s not the disk. tried it on my friends PS2) and then happens to other games (blue bottom disks).

Dude, 2 words:

WAL-MART SWAP

I don\'t know if you guys find it unethical but I find it even more unethical for Sony to sell you a $300 piece of shoddy equipment.

How long is your warranty going on for? You\'ve been round here a while, surely it must be nearly up by now, after all, its only a year!! Still, I never had any probs with mine, hope it gets fixed anyway, nobody should be without timesplitters ;)
