Title: the next big thing
Post by: bigrob on April 04, 2002, 04:00:52 AM: What is the next big thig that will hit the ps2 (or any other consol for that matter). I meen the hype around MGS2 was huge(well deserved, in my oppinion).

I am just curious if there is a "hype" going on at the moment that I have missed, becasue now I do not know any games that i feel really excited about. Is there another game like MGS2 out there that i just missed ?

help me out here people.......

Hey MM, I just reserved a copy of RE and was told that shipping date is 5/1 , so they would get it 5/2 (a date difference, as always), instead of the 4/30 date listed as shipping date everywhere. You heard anything like that or is it just EB?

I also eagerly await the next round of Football games. Another that I would like to see is a Halflife 2 for the console.
Wait almost forgot, the thing for the PS2 and Xbox looks like it may be interesting too.

Many RPGs, mainly Xenosaga, Kingdom Hearts etc
Rpgs are the reason I bought a ps2 :)

Everybody is kind of posting the next games they are personally interested in, but right now there is no game for any console carrying the momentum that MGS 2 had. Maybe after E3 when people get a chance to play many of the titles that have hinted at some potential (Project Ego, Star Fox Adventures, Metroid Prime, new Insomniac game) the hype machine can get rolling. But as its stands there is no big title looming on the horizon that has all other games in its shadow.

damn, I would like to get tp play MGS2 for the first time again. Maybe if i bang my head to the wall until i loose my memory....

After MGS2 (and the superbly disappointing demo of FFX) I just can\'t sit around with as much anticipation towards games as before. Sure, there are games coming, many good, some great, but I just don\'t see a "next big thing" coming my way.

One word of DMC2 though, and I\'d be going off the wall! :D

Malice. The hype has died for now but it still has the potential to be big. I\'m personally not drooling for it, ya never know though.

The next huge blockbuster will likely be a game flying below the radar at the moment. GTA3 was barely talked about before release yet snatched the spotlight away from MGS2 and FFX to a degree. There are rumors Sony has a Halo killer/wannabe in the works (Planetside? Maybe..)

Aside from those mentioned in this thread already, WRC2 is supposed to wow us by showing still more of what PS2 can do graphically. Not the type of game you\'re asking about though, I\'m sure.

Personally, I am pretty much curious about that "Halo killer". Planetside should be cool on PC. WRC2 too.

My personal big anticipation goes to the next game from Naughty Dog though... Jak and Daxter 2? Wow...
