Title: Newbie needs help , please !
Post by: Stealthmonkey on April 05, 2002, 04:32:11 AM
Hi,
Im thinking about getting a PS2 but Im not too sure what Ill need to buy to get me started.

Im thinking of a package deal with Metal Gear Solid 2 and one controller.

My questions are,
1. Can I use my old PS1 memory card  ?
2. Can I use my old PS1 controller ?
3. Is Tekken Tag worth getting,
4. Is there anything I need to buy to play DVD\'s
5. Anything I should know before I buy one.

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance.

hey a Fellow Glaswegin !

Yaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhooooooo

me gets drunk and is sick all over mm\'s shoes !

hey buddy how you doing

nice to see a fellow Scot in here i was fealing lonely

:crying:

any way

keep your PS1 mem Card as you still need ti to save your Ps1 games when you play them on the PS2

PS2 cards are for PS2 games only
But don\'t worry they last far longer than the old PS1 games so you should be alright with just the one.

the only game thats memory card intensive is WWF Smackdown uses 4 meg per save which is a BIT CR@P !

Anyway hope you continue to post here.

other deals you could go for (other then the MGS2 one)

are (all From Electronic Boutiuqe)

Starter Pack
PS2
+ AV Leads
+ second official Controller
+ Memory card
+official DVD Remote with driver update disk

 for all £260

Platinum Pack
+ PS2
+ any 3 platimum games for around £230

anyway i hope that helps ya :)

makesure you get a full scart lead (about £10), youll have to buy it sepeately, dont worry if it says for ps1, it will still work. the lead that comes with the ps2 is real crap!!! the full scart makes it sooo much sharper. only bad point is hen u watch a dvd (doesnt effect dd games) but buy a dvd region x (£15-20) and it wil sort this out, plus let you watch imported dvds

Excellent, Great, Fantastic,  :-)

More help than I could have possibly hoped for,

Thanks a million guys , Ill be using these formus again for sure,

I really want a PS2, more to play Metal Gear Solid 2 than anything else,

But from what I hear there may be a price cut round the corner,

I might wait till the Game Cube comes out here (UK) and see if the price goes down any.

But now I know exactly what I need,

Again, many thanks

Barry

Stealth, I know there is a price cut that will be announced at this years E3, but that\'s mainly for the states.  Only time will tell. :)
