i saw the same propaganda PR statements on several sites, no need for me to post the crap as im sure you could see them for yerself
one million, huh? in roughly 7 months?
w00tx0r!!!1 i guess thats reason enough to celebrate
ok, one quote *snicker*
all console bashing aside, why do representitives say crap like this when they know DAMN well its a lie
• Since its launch, Xbox has outperformed PlayStation 2 sales by 25 percent when comparing system sales during the first four months of each on the market.
even with the PS2 shortages [only in US], they still crushed xbox
-
That would be all well and good for the xbox...
IF the xbox was outselling the ps2, but it has yet to do that.. even during launch.
EDIT:
That is sorta interesting to think they have yet to make up any ground on the ps2...
for every step they take foward, they take 2 backwards.
or, for every console they sell sony sells 2..
its like running a race backwards
like microsoft said, they are in a marathon..
problem is you need to run fowards in the marathon not backwards (c) Chrono

Additional News to add to your post MM
Metal Gear Solid 2 Ships Five Million (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/356/356900p1.html)
Sorta makes the halo figure all the less impressive..
-
Yeah I had a similar reaction--"fastest selling next gen game ever." Heh, that excludes the PS2 (so MGS doesn\'t count--that\'s corporate lingo for you), so really it\'s only xbox and GC in the running. It\'s funny, but it\'s marketing and hype. It makes the world go round.
But the 5 million MGS doesn\'t make the Halo number unimpressive--to the contrary, look at the userbases of both machines. The percentage of sell through is huge for Halo, not so much for MGS.

Haha... One million... Whoo.... hoo...:D
I really don\'t like that game. Unless I get to play it online... That game is boring.:p
-
Thats great news and halo deserve the sales as well. Halo rules!!!!!!!!!:thepimp:
-
errr, you must have the 60 FPS and non-repetitive levels version rast.
cause my version is tired
-
HALO gets 1 million in 7 months
Final Fantasy 10 Sold 1 million in japan Alone in just a Matter of HOURS !
some how i don\'t see how MicroSoft can even say they have out performed SONY on this one.
-
yea well that is sad that they used fake propaganda and all
but as everyone knows they arent the only ones
sega sony and nintendo have played that route
not to mention 3DO thinking the army men games are so innioative lol
-
Yeah but wasn\'t Onimusha Warlords the first game on the PS2 to sell one million and that was out ages after the PS2 launch. This was also selling to the Japan market which is very big. So in Microsofts defense it is a good acheivement.
-
japanese marker big?
you do realize the US has sold many a more consoles of PS2 then in Japan
so how does that play a part
-
Try roughly 5 months.
End of Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, March, April.
And how long did it take for a PS2 game to hit 1 million? Exactly.
Onimusha did this in Japan, and it was only what? Many months after the PS2 launched? Not bad when an Xbox launch game accomplishsed this feat. Carry on. :)
And yes, I\'m aware that this is games shipped.
-
so, units shipped huh?
they gonna bury them in a landfill like the ET game?
not gonna contest anything else in thier propaganda?
-
mm,
After actually reading the statement, it\'s supposedly a million sold, not shipped. I just assumed it was shipped, since that\'s what they usually announce.
And I\'ll be glad to comment on their propaganda if you point me towards it. :) Too lazy to go look for it right now.

please put yer bull crap goggles on before you subjest yer eyes to this
REDMOND, Wash. — April 8, 2002 — Hailed widely as “video game of the year” and recipient of multiple industry awards for excellence, “Halo™: Combat Evolved” has earned the distinguished honor of being the fastest million-unit seller ever for any next-generation console. According to NPDFunworldSM, the definitive source for toy and video games industry sales data, “Halo: Combat Evolved” recently crossed the magical 1 million mark in sales in the United States and Canada. Statistically, this means that more than six copies of “Halo: Combat Evolved” have been sold every minute of every day since its launch on Nov. 15, 2001.
“Halo: Combat Evolved” also has played a major role in helping the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft Corp. set additional key sales records in the United States in just four months following its launch. The following milestones put Xbox on pace for long-term, worldwide success:
• With nearly four games sold for every system purchased, Xbox has a higher attach rate than any next-generation console. Data shows that in the four-month period following the launch of Xbox, owners purchased 1.2 more games with their Xbox system than PlayStation 2 owners did, helping Xbox achieve 82 percent more software sales than PlayStation 2.
• In just four months, Xbox has already catapulted to the No. 2 position among current game console sales.
• Since its launch, Xbox has outperformed PlayStation 2 sales by 25 percent when comparing system sales during the first four months of each on the market.
“The demand for ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’ has been incredible from the very beginning,” said Pete Roithmayr, vice president of Merchandising at Electronics Boutique. “It’s reason alone to own an Xbox. Heck, it’s the reason to play video games. ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’ is that good.”
“We are thrilled that ‘Halo: Combat Evolved’ has won over Xbox gamers, with sales hitting 1 million units at an amazing pace,” said Ed Fries, vice president of Xbox Game Content at Microsoft. “There’s nothing like it anywhere else. It’s only on Xbox. If you haven’t played ‘Halo: Combat Evolved,’ you’re missing out on the best video game experience available.”

When they go on a buying spree like they did with Onimusha things can easily reach one million. Look at all those other weird selling Jap games.
-
Yes 1 million that is good. Now,
CAN WE MAKE A GAME FOR X-BOX THAT DOES NOT SUCK? HALO IS GETTING LONELY SITTING BY ITSELF
-
I got NHL2002, PGR, Halo and Amped at Christmas, and none of those games suck.
Rallisport, JSRF and GunValkrie are great games since.

MM I know your hate towards Ms and Bill Gates is strong. But to just post to bash what you post is wrong. We all know it\'s bs bye MS to make them feel good about slow sales no reason to go posting and bashing that\'s just useless posting.
P.S But I understand how BS can piss you off though.

I remember 5 months after PS2...not much to play, plenty on the way...seems so many of you have forgotten.
Actually I still remember people raving about SSX while the waited ever so patiently for GT3...

What\'s to wait for on Xbox?;) Don\'t say Project Ego.. I live that game everyday..:D

To those of you who are saying Halo sucks....you are truly utterly thick arsholes. I don\'t even own an X-Box, but I completed it on a friends and it was am AMAZING experience. I don\'t even like X-Box, but I can at least admit Halo is great. And no, the 30 fps frame rate does NOT affect the game in any way.

*will come back with something witty to write later

Once again, that argument will only work if
1.) The ps2 does not exisit
2.) The NGC does not exisit..
Unfourtunetly for you they do..
The ps2 had
1.) No xbox
2.) No NGC
in exisitance at that time
