It\'s quite a coincidence that GameCube manufacturing is starting to hit its groove while Xbox manufacturing slows.

It was vice-versa in January.

With the xbox failing in japan and europe, developers are starting to change their exclusive plans (see wreckless)

It just makes no sense for a company to make a exclusive game with the xbox circumstances

So, with 3rd parties having that mentality, the xbox will have mainly ports

So, its up to the first and 2nd parties to pull the xbox outta its hole

Which brings up the question, since MS first party sucks ass, how much money is MS willing to spend on exclusives?

In order for it to make sense for a company to make a xbox exclusive, MS has to make up for all the sales they could have
IE, MGS2 4 million copies (well, thats an extreme example, but you get the idea.. FFX exclusive on the xbox would be in the same situation.. same with Onimusha 2, etc)

Nintendo on the other hand has a first party that can pull them outta the hole.. MS is doomed unless they do something quick
When 3rd parties leave, it takes alot to get them back.

Well, I knew that
I had assumed the game would sell 1 million in the USA on the xbox.. but virtually nothing in japan and europe beacuse of the userbase. Hence I cacualted a 4 million number

this is my favorite piece from the msnbc article:

"In its regular global video game survey last week, Goldman Sachs said U.S. retailers showed a “surprisingly clear” preference for Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 2 over the Xbox."

Analysts said on Tuesday that production has slowed, jeopardizing Microsoft’s target of shipping 4.5 million to 6 million units worldwide by June 30

like that EVER a reachable goal

I like this exagerated article the most
they must have spent months thinking this one up

Quote
According to reports, Microsoft has sold approximately 190,000 Xbox units in Japan--short of the 250,000 shipped for launch--prompting concern that Microsoft may have a rough time promoting the Xbox as the system of choice in Japan. But Microsoft maintains that software sales have been brisk despite the relatively slow sales of the console.

"Japan is going well on the software side and probably is a little behind where we want to be on the hardware side," Xbox director Robbie Bach told Reuters. "But we always expected things would be tough. Microsoft has demonstrated patience and persistence there before, and I think we will do very well."

The company also expects support from Japanese third-party developers to grow steadily over time, but Microsoft realizes that it will be an uphill battle. "We\'re seeing a lot of strong support there. We expect our relationships there to grow. It\'s not something you can jump in, and in three weeks you have great relations with everyone. It takes three months or three years,\'\' Bach added. "There is still more work to do in Japan."

Well it\'s not suprising that X-Box manufacturing is slowing down, considering the slower than expected sales in Europe and Japan.

As for Gamecube manufacturing hiting its \'groove\', I really think its more due to a speeding up of production in preparation for the European launch than anything else. I definitely expect Gamecube production to also slow down after the European launch is over and done with.

Just so you know PS2 production was also recently slowed down.

How do you know wreckless was only going to be on xbox? I mean ms has to pay for the developers to keep the game  exclusive. Games like DOA3 which MS has paid for will not be shiping to other consoles.

Second Nintendo has jack. Nobody is buying into the Nintendo BS this generation. PS2 continues to out sell all consoles. And with nintendo being cheaper and a home name it\'s almost sad what the gamecube is doing you would think Nintendo just entered the cosole market.

Sorry to run off-topic a bit, but I wanted to touch on this one loose end (although I don\'t know why I bother, heh):

Althought "nobody" is a bit of an exaggeration, you have a pretty good point.  As long as, of course, by "BS" you mean GCN games like Star Wars, Monkey Ball, SSX Tricky, Pikmin, Smash Bros, Tony Hawk, Madden, NBA Street, SSSoccer, Sonic, and then Resident Evil, Wrestlemania, Metroid, Star Fox, Mario, Zelda, and *drool* Eternal Darkness.

So, in replacing the word "nobody" with the more literal "Many people," you would be almost dead-on accurate:

Quote

well we kind of assumed it was due to the [ONLY on X box] sticker on the Games box.

correct me if i am wrong ....sorry i don\'t know if the US or Japanese wreckless boxes had the same but thats what it says on the UK PAL Versions.

well there arent any great games as of lately really hiting the market and it was the same way after the PS2 launch

so once those come out then the market will start to rise again along with the production
