This article was made with me in mind. I like facts and sr8 up information. Here are some more tid-bits on FFXI.
XI DETAILS OF FINAL FANTASY XI
Yeah, we know we haven\'t even got FFX yet, but if you don\'t want to read this stuff, go read something else
18:50 It\'s Square\'s big push to make their world-beating RPG series, world-hypnotising via the irresistible lure of the internet. And it arrives in Japan on May 16, all prepped and ready to run with the freshly-launched PlayStation Broadband. As such, Square have revealed details of how this massively-multiplayer online game plays. Here they are in eleven easy steps.
1. Character costumes, unsurprisingly, can be customised. New outfits can be bought from shops or found in dungeons (like you do). Hair, skin colour and facial features can also be altered.
2. A new Tactical Point system is featured, which increases as you\'re attacked. When it reaches 100% you can unleash Weapon Skill atatcks (see below). If your TP gauge is higher than 100% (it can reach 300%) it increases the efficiency of your attack.
3. Weapons have their own skill level, and you can learn to use that weapon when your Weapon Skills reach that level. A double-bladed sword for example, allows you two attacks.
4. Some monsters only appear at certain times of day. First thing in the morning, or nocturnally, for example.
5. Rarer beasts may only surface for a couple of hours each day, and these can yield prizes. One, the Phantom of Zoromuku Plain, appears at a certain time at night. Kill it and you earn a special weapon. Another, the Death Wasp yields honey.
6. You can use long range attacks by equipping bow and projectile weapons. Obviously the advantage being that you can attack without engaging in battle.
7. Chocobos, the famous Final Fantasy yellow birds, can be used as steeds to get you around quickly.
8. You can link together with other players and form a Chocobo Riding Team. Hey, make new friends!
9. You can form alliances. In fact, some of the boss characters require teamwork to defeat. For example, the Shadow Dragon (a mid-class boss) requires three teams in union to beat its flame attack.
10. The game will feature 100 hours of play, more if you want to find everything. Square will add more quests though as time goes on.
11. Um, there are two Fs in the game\'s name. Tom Guise

Glad to hear there\'s going to be a ton of Character customization options. I had a feeling Square was going to go all out on it, but it did worry me seein everyone in early screenshots look like cardboard cutouts of each other.
Chocobo Racing sound pretty cool too.
/me *Wonders how he\'s going to get his NOS sticker to stay on with all those feathers in the way...??*
