not a bad read, i suppose
Walk into any video game store in North America today, and you\'re likely to see an Xbox kiosk running the hottest games on the planet. Odds are there will be a crowd of gamers around it checking out the latest releases and sometimes going head-to-head with some multiplayer action. Fly to Japan and what\'ll you see? Exactly the same thing! Ditto in Europe. Now that Xbox is a global phenomenon, and gaming has changed forever in all corners of our little planet, there\'s just one thing missing…
yeah, A+ titles and dissapearing exclusives
global phenomenon that permits the PS2 to outsell it 40 to 1 and the GC 7 to 1

XBOX has brought nothing new to gaming, no innovations and no new genre\'s. Its hardly a phenomenon...

Indeed.
HALO was/is cool though.

no, yer right
halo "was" cool
it had a few nice improvements in the console FPS realm
but nothing groundbreaking
it had too many flaws that the PC version will take care of

If theres one thing I love, it\'s reading PR bull about stuff I actually know about. If I read some PR about some motorcycle, I\'ll prolly believe it (well, except for my untrusting nature), but it cracks me up just how far big corporations will go. I always thought it was illegal to blatantly lie or misrepresent stuff, but I guess not. :D

Virgin in Glasgow has
/me counts using my fingers
5...6...7 X box kiosks over the 3 floors of one for their stores
but have the same number of PS2\'s as well
All of them run the Leatest X box and PS2 titles, so no shortage of kiosks for either PS2 or X box here !

Its just Microsoft PR Bull****. Don\'t trust anything that comes from the horses mouth, about the state of the Xbox. especially Microsoft.
-
that article is kinda funny.. phenomenon isnt quite acurate tho :)
im so tired my head is spinning :)
:fro: toot on

Gotta love those PR guys, it\'s like they have a PR terminology thesaurus. So they can pretty much work the same words; like global phenomenon, suppremely entertaining and all that crap in any subject matter.
PR guy: "You know that Pontiac Aztec is really turning into a global phenomenon. Thanks to its unique combination of suppremely entertaining features driving in every little corner of the world has changed... FOREVER!" and so on.

The Xbox at my local Software Etc gets some action, as does the \'Cube and PS2 there..
Although, they haven\'t been able to touch the competition in Japan.
Xbox sold 2000 units in Japan last week, compared to GCN\'s 15000.

I think we should start ignoring what MS is saying for while. It\'s all BS and it\'s getting real lame just picking apart what they say every single time.
-
Why dont companies every admit defeat? A "phanominon?(spelled wrong I know) M$ is either stupid or thick headed.
Out of all 3 consoles of this generation its the worst. The real suprise to me of this gen. is that remarkable sales of GBA. They\'re selling a steady 100k per month or whatever. I dont know what it\'s overall sales numbers are but with some more good titles and im seeing 150k per month.
I also think GC is underrated. I wish I could say the same about the x-box but I think some people *cough* MS *cough* make it a little to overrated. What are they selling per week in Europe 1500 right now?
Back to GBA does anyone know how much it\'s sold since launch?

You guys?! PR fluff is one my favorite things about this business. Check out this one, for example (A newly released GBA CHESS game!!!)
Virtual Kasparov: The battle game that actually makes you smarter!
Chatsworth California - Titus Software Corporation launches Virtual Kasparov for Nintendo\'s Game Boy® Advance. For the first time in recent Chess history, Titus presents the Chess game for what it really is: the most famous fighting game with brain cells for weapons!
A particularly appealing feature for the young audience and confirmed players is the game\'s massive storyline which has you challenge 31 opponents from around the world with different personalities and strategies. Beat them to unlock their bosses, all the way up to Garry Kasparov himself! No need for high powered munitions here because the most powerful weapon is your brain.
Of course, the game offers every incredible feature Virtual Kasparov for the Sony PlayStation Home Entertainment System did, including the massive Virtual Chess engine, and much more!
Are you ready to engage in the most intensive war ever... The war of mental domination!
· Massive Virtual Chess engine
· Unique storyline with unlockable bonuses
· 31 opponents including World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov
· Tutorial mode with 50 different very detailed modules from beginner to expert, opening library, famous Chess games commented by Garry Kasparov and much more.
· Single player mode or battle friends with or without link cable
· Colorful graphics, cool character design, highly readable menus and tutorials.
For readablity\'s sake, I took out all the CAPS, but it still says that this is not a chess game, it\'s a massive goddam FIGHTING game -- that makes you smarter!!!!!
I love this press release. It uses the word "massive" three friggin times. That\'s massive! I MUST HAVE THIS GAME! (Who needs game reviewers to tell me if this is accurate anyway, right tshirts? ;))
Hell, I even added to the fun. When I posted this news to NGenres.com, I added the description:
"Kasparov in Stores Now - NPuzzles News, posted @ 10:04PM CT
We know you won\'t read about a chess game. So instead, come take a look at Virtual Hack-n-Slashparov... Virtual Kick Your Asparov!"
So this MS thing isn\'t new. If anything, it\'s supremely entertaining! Under my guidance, I think you could see PR fluff become a global phenomenon! That would be MASSIVE!
-Eik
...
And it would make you smarter!
