I think It\'s disgusting how Catholic priests have abused children. I live in a primarily Catholic community, and my 50-year-old boss says that he remembers many of his friends complaining about priests abusing them way back in the day. Like 1965...
Back then people turned the other way. NO MORE.
I will be ecstatic when The catholic church crumbles...

Yep, its everywhere, not just in the US. There have been about three priests convicted in Brisbane and Sydney in just the last couple of months, its disgusting. They prey on young boys. Its sick.

I agree, ppl are scared to attack the problem more directly instead of only when a kid comes up front. Hell Im still upset m,y post with jokes about it was deleted. Hell we all need a laugh, and to me and obviously others, wasnt offensive. I think its more of a let down for the religious lemmings, hence why the original was deleted and the 2nd locked by a known supporter.

I have no problem with someone being religious... hell my moms a catholic and shes a very nice, happy lady. i dont believe in god but if you do, no problem, to each his own.
but the catholic church as an orginazation is one of the most worthless, corrupt, hypocritical and destructive things in the history of the world.

I totally agree with Luke, besides my gf is Catholic and there is nothing wrong with her either, its these damn priests and cardinals who get in power and instead of saying I *****d up they say hide this so I dont look like a fool

OK, everyone here knows that I am a Christian. I don\'t classify Christianity a religion, but as a way of life and belief.
The problem with priests, and nuns for that matter, is that they stay virgins. THIS IS NOT WHAT GOD INTENDED. God intended sex to be the most amazing and fullfilling thing ever, that is why he created it to only be done in the confinds of marriage, a point where two people love eachother enough to make that commitment. Now, the problem with priests is that they have never experienced sex, and get so horny that they take it out on boys, simply because they are in all boys schools most of the time.
God created sex. God wanted us to all get married and multiply (it says that in black and white in the Bible). So I don\'t understand why the abstain from relationships. This is why there are so many problems in the Catholic church.

racer, that couldnt be farther from the truth. Maybe you meant since their preisthood they havent had sex. Not all current priest have NEVER had sex, infcat, I\'d be willing to bet that almost ALL priest have experianced it before turning to the ways of the clothe.
Going from what you said about god wanted ppl to have sex..why does that include everyone but nuns and priests? if infact they are the "people" of god" but yet are exempt from the temptations of the flesh. I dont get that.
BTW, no where is this a flame, just curious.

Luckee, you misunderstood what I was trying to say. Nuns and Priests are NOT supposed to have had sex. They marry the church. That is why they abstain from sexual contact.
THEY ARENT ANY DIFFERENT!!! Thats what I am trying to say. Of course these priests and nuns get horny, they are supposed too, thats the way God intended it, but because the Catholic church has all these rules and traditions, they believe that they don\'t need sex because they are so focused on religion.
This is the problem. IF priests and nuns were allowed to have earthly relationships then there probably wouldn\'t be all the problems that there are now! They would be getting physical fullfillment, whilest still loving and serving God.
Remember, GOD created sex. He created it to be the most amazing thing. So why would he want you to abstian from it??? As long as its within the confinds of marriage (the way he intended it) then you can have the most amazing sex life ever.

Thats another concept altogether..the most "amazing sex" is relative.
You can phuck the shiat out of someone and be amazing yet it doesnt compare to making love with someone, but at the same time..making love can be no where near as amazing as just a plain good nasty romp.

Thats what I mean dude. When I say \'amazing sex\' I dont mean 234 orgasms in an hour, I mean feeling at one with the person you love. Its a closeness that you can only get when you truly do love someone.
This is what the priests are missing in their lives - fullfillment.

I like the idea of god.
He is a good support mechanism for some people, who need help through thinigs.(I personally dont believe in him)
BUT, the Catholic church should be erased. Through its existence I would say it has done more harm than good. Because of the Church we are 500 years or more behind technologically and intelectually than we should be. I have a theory that other than natural(By natural I mean any kind of disease or nature deaths) deaths, Religion on a whole is either fully, or at least partially at fault for the most deaths since recorded history.

I think I can safetly agree with almost all of this statement. church on one level or another has caused so many fights,arguments,wars, and death than anything I think. Hard to prove since numbers dont really exsist for such a thing. I wonder what the world would be like without any direct religion.

i have been a member of the catholic CHURCH all my life but i have turned my Back on the "ORGINAISED" religion for about 5 years now.
Even though i still beleve in both God and a Afterlife... i have lost my "FAITH" in the men who apointed themselfs in charge of my faith.

what i think is that the Chatolic Church is faceing a crisis and needs a redical remormation were they Prosecute the guilty and not protect them like they do now!

Catholics believe they need to ask a priest for forgiveness. Christians go straight to the source - GOD.
Priests are the middle man. There is nothing wrong with what you said ooseven. I am a Christian and have NEVER been to confession.

The Catholic Church has been around nearly 2000 years.
And most wars are caused by the greed and selfish needs of leaders and use religion as a means to fan the flame of wars. A truly religious person would not lift a hand against another. You think the Crusades were to spread the Word of God by war? No. Jerusalem had a lot of wealth a knowledge. In fact, after the Europeans had conquered Jerusalem, it was there that they discovered higher mathematics(from the Greeks and Romans) that helped Europe out of the Dark Ages. They also got advanced medicine from the Arabs.
Many historians agree that if not for the Crusades, Europe would not have advanced.
Also, remember that Attilla, Khan, Hitler, Pol Pot (look him up), Lenin, Stalin waged war and mass murder without religious means.
BTW, Catholicism is Christianity. Catholics worship Jesus. Priests used to be able to marry about 500 years ago until a Pope changed everything.

It was over Inheritance of Church owned land to the widows of the dead priests.
The Catholic Church didn\'t want to lose the land to the family of the dead priest so they stopped them from marrying.

Anyway, the priests I knew were very nice. I knew when I was a teen that it just wasn\'t natural for a man or woman to be celibate without going crazy in some way. Ya gotta live a balanced life....otherwise....who knows.

Every once and a while you make a statement that I can fully agree with... and that was one of them.
A guy that I worked with for years was taken away for being a pedophile. I had no clue! He seemed to be a nice upstanding man. He is in prison now and will be there for the next several years for molesting three young girls and one boy about the age of 5. Sick chit, but it can be as close as your own neighborhood.
