Title: A question to all Logitech GT force steering wheel owners.
Post by: Cerberus on April 20, 2002, 02:42:57 AM
Last week, I decided to invest in a Logitech GT force steering wheel. After spending many hours using it, it seems to have developed a problem. It\'s a bit awkward trying to explain the problem but here goes, just bear with me.

When driving with the wheel, from time to time it goes completely funny, the wheel itself wrenches all the way to the left, and the pedals & buttons cease to function. This causes the car to crash from one side of the road to the other. Not only does this render the wheel unusable, but it also seems to knock the analogue controller out as well, resulting in me having no choice but to reset my PS2, and in doing so losing all my progress.

Have any other owners experienced this, and furthermore, if anyone has, is it a serious problem?

the GT-Force has some bugs and I experienced that problem a couple of times while playing GT3 (although it always seems to happen at the same part of the course, but only occasionally). You should be able to solve the problem by simply disconnecting the GT-Force plug from the PS2 and then reconnecting it. It should then work fine. Try if this works - if not, call Logitech support and yours should be replaced (I didn\'t replace mine because it only happened very rarely).

Hope that helps.

I\'ve got the Formula Force wheel (same wheel, but red and less buttons), and the same problem occured with my system a couple of days ago, I thought of posting about it here, but eventually forgot all about it.. quite a coincidence.

I\'ve only had this problem once, I was driving an endurance race in GT3, and a good 1hr 15min into the race, the wheel went nuts. I swore, I reseted. Then I remembered reading somewhere that this problem could be fixed by detaching and reconnecting the wheel to the PS2... I\'m kinda pissed, \'cause I could\'ve still won!

Still it sucks, \'cause often even a little slip can cost a whole race... :(

So it\'s OK to disconnect it while the console is still switched on?

yeah.. it\'s USB so it shouldn\'t damage the system (not that pluging out the dualshock while having it on would damage the PS2)...
